How I Met Your Mother
The Over-Correction

Original Air Date: Dec 10, 2012

Caitlin –Senior Staff Writer

On HIMYM, an over-correction refers to someone going too far in the opposite direction to make up for mistaken behavior. For example, Barney used to date Quinn- and now he’s with Patrice, who is about as far from a stripper as you can get.

Marshall’s mom is coming to visit, and Lily and Marshall want to borrow Ted’s air mattress. (Well, Marshall does. Lily would rather Jane stayed in their storage unit.) Only problem? When Ted gives away his things, they don’t come back.

Dear TV Claus … From Lauren

For the month of December, the crew here at TheTwoCents.com will be writing our letters to TV Claus. A powerful being who transcends all beliefs to bring us the wonderment of good television. You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Dear TV Claus,

You made so many of my television dreams come true last holiday season that I think this is worth another shot! After all, you got Victoria off of her balcony (and Daniel onto it), Hart of Dixie is still plugging along and is better than ever, and, even if Secret Circle had to go, you gave me Phoebe Tonkin on The Vampire Diaries. It’s hard to ask for much else, but here are a few TV goodies that are sure to stuff my stocking…

Community. I need it. It’s my “all I want for Christmas”, snowy, cozy montage material. Sure, sure- we’ve been given a February premiere date. But we had September and October premiere dates, too, and we all saw how those turned out. Time to pull this one off the Island of Misfit Shows and get the evil elves at NBC on board!

The Amazing Race
“Take Down that Million”

Original Air Date: Dec 9, 2012

Sometimes, the last leg of The Amazing Race will have a really great, epic challenge. This was one of those occasions. Unfortunately, the great challenge yielded what is, really, a deeply unsatisfying result.

So, the two-legged final episode of the season starts in Spain, goes through France, and ends in New York City. Which team gets left behind at the end of the second-to-last leg? Which team makes it work in New York City?

We open with a tense soccer game, wondering where the story is going. The apparently star player, a cute blonde girl, makes the winning goal – and gets hit in the ankle, breaking it badly, by another player. Who is she? Why does this matter? Well, because she’s Steve’s babysitter, Lindsey.

Really? Does Steve really still need a babysitter?

Meg is obsessed this week with Kent – a very hot guy at school. She’s actually fantasizing at the lunch table about them being the only survivors of some apocalypse and needing to repopulate the earth together. In reality, she’s sucking on her hot dog and learning to breathe through her nose. An important skill. This has apparently been an ongoing obsession, as shown by the contents of her diary that Brian and Stewie are reading.

Oh, and Brian’s pretentiousness is obvious this week, as his supposedly learned and literary self doesn’t know that Virginia Woolf wasn’t a real person – just a character. But I digress…

Dexter
Do You See What I See?

Original Air Date: Dec 9, 2012

Karen Belgrad – Senior Editor
karenbelgrad@thetwocentscorp.com

For seven seasons, one of the main questions on viewers minds has been: How long can Dexter get away with his killing ways? And while he’s been perilously close to being discovered before, this season has been the game changer.

In the past, anyone who learned his secret was disposed of, usually because of their own criminal activities. But now his anonymity is hanging by a thread, largely because too many people either know or are very close to knowing the whole truth.

Hi gang! Happy Holidays to you all! For the month of December, the crew here at TheTwoCents.com will be writing our letters to TV Claus. To the most benevolent TV of Claus,
– You’ve made Caskett and Bones/Booth canon already. Let’s keep Colin O’Donoghue on Once Upon A Time and let Captain Swan chart the same path.

– Renew Chicago Fire. Please.

Now that Olivia knows Peter is going all Observer, she asks for some help from Anil. Had he known what Peter was up to, he would have stopped it, but all he can do know is give Olivia the tech Peter stuck in his head. Maybe she and Walter can figure out what is going on… and how to stop Peter.

In Etta’s apartment, Observer Peter is going over all possible futures in Windmark’s timeline when Windmark himself appears in the hall. he enters the apartment, but Peter is gone. Windmark and his companion discover that Peter can “run futures” and that he is tracking Windmark. The timeline ends with “You are here.” Creepy.

CSI:NY – Recap & Review – The Real McCoy

CSI:NY
The Real McCoy

Original Air Date: Dec 7, 2012

Maria – Associate Staff Writer
maria@thetwocentscorp.com

I suppose it’s called setting the scene, but I found the striptease at the exclusive speakeasy called The Real McCoy a tad too excessive. It did stand to show there was a bit of history between the dancer and the manager. I guess it is very relevant to the case, but I’m wary of whenever CSI:NY tends to over-sensationalize things.

Mac and Christine are having a quiet moment in the park, Mac telling her that the Doctors are happy with his improvement and they’re just sharing a kiss when Mac gets a phone call about a dead body, the co-owner of The Real McCoy. Jason Black was beaten and died when he was impaled on a fence. He was also robbed of exactly ten grand, but the rest of the money, his credit cards and watch were untouched.

Nikita – Recap & Review – Sideswipe

Nikita
Sideswipe

Original Air Date: Dec 7, 2012

Andrew – TwoCents Reviewer
andrew@thetwocentscorp.com

While “Nikita” is an espionage drama equipped with the traditional tactics of guns, bombs, and extravagant gadgets, its driving battle between Nikita and Amanda isn’t one of bullets and explosions. It’s a psychological chess match that pits these two heavyweight minds against each other, and in “Sideswipe,” Amanda launched her opening. Nikita’s counter-gambit nabbed a valuable piece for Division going forward.

The episode opens with an introduction to Cyrus, played by Isaiah Mustafa. You know him from Old Spice commercials, but here, he’s taken a luxurious step up to sell high-grade weapons. He’s in the middle of a sale when Nikita and Michael hijack it, bringing him to Division for interrogation, which ends up being a bargaining session to obtain Amanda.
