Dear TV Claus … From Maria

For the month of December, the crew here at TheTwoCents.com will be writing our letters to TV Claus. A powerful being who transcends all beliefs to bring us the wonderment of good television. You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Dear TV Claus,

You give us so much that I just thought I’d start by saying how grateful I am. That said, I have a few points I’d like to bring to your attention.

I was a little anxious about your decision to renew CSI:NY, however, you have gifted us by actually remembering the specific characters that have histories and personalities. Please can this continue, and please, PLEASE can you finally answer the question I’ve had for seasons about whether Danny Messer’s brother lived or died? Cheers.

Can you please tell perfect men not to bring their perfect wives onto their TV shows? I absolutely adore Kevin Ryan and Jenny Ryan on Castle and Harold Finch and Grace on Person of Interest, but I can’t help but feeling a voyeur. Also, I want to be able to drool over those men without feeling guilty.

On NCIS, please can you make Tony grow up a bit? I’m not a huge Tiva fan, but it might be more tolerable if Tony acted like an adult about it. Ziva deserves better than a petulant boy. Abby can be a little childish at times too, but I really don’t like it when my beloved characters are petty.

How I Met Your Mother
The Final Page

Original Air Date: Dec 17, 2012

You’ve probably been curious about this two-part episode for a while. Well, let me just say that it’s a totally ordinary episode that doesn’t in any way end with one of the most epic scenes we’ve ever seen on the show. True story.

First off, Marshall jinxes Barney. This is a big deal amongst the gang. Barney ignored a jinx only once- before he got hit by that bus in Miracles. Since then, he’s been very careful to follow the rules of a jinx. He does so by never getting jinxed.

HBO and Martin Scorsese will partner for a documentary spotlighting William Jefferson Clinton, 42nd President of the United States, it was announced today by Richard Plepler, recently named CEO, HBO and Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Made with Clinton’s full cooperation, the film will explore his perspectives on history, politics, culture and the world, with Scorsese producing and directing, and Steve Bing producing.

“President Clinton is one of the most compelling figures of our time, whose world view and perspective, combined with his uncommon intelligence, make him a singular voice on the world stage,” said Plepler and Lombardo. “This documentary, under Marty’s gifted direction, creates a unique opportunity for the President to reflect on myriad issues that have consumed his attention and passion throughout both his Presidency and post-Presidency.”

Dear TV Claus … From Meg

You’ll see a new letter to TV Claus almost daily here and we hope you’ll chime in your TwoCents to TV Claus too!

Dear TV Claus,

I’ll keep my demands, erm – I mean – respectful requests simple this year, Papa TV Claus.

1. Bring back the original Law & Order! Sure, Sam Waterston, has found new life on The Newsroom, but he’ll always be Jack McCoy to me. Original Law & Order was always the best of the franchise and – after 20 years – was still canceled too early.

2. Bench the love triangle on The Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries used to be a fun, supernatural show that happened to have a love triangle. Now it’s a love triangle that happens to have a show. Help Stefan, Damon, and Elena get over their (undead, but surprisingly still potent) hormones and focus on fighting the forces of evil in Mystic Falls.

3. Kill the Bachelor. I mean, not personally (I’m sure they are very nice people. Actually, I am not sure of that at all. But still, this is a homicide-free wish list). Please, please let this long-running embarrassment sign off and make its way to reality TV heaven.

The reunion is as frustrating to me as ever. Jeff never spends enough time talking to the winner if it’s someone he doesn’t care about and respect. How do you not ask Jeff Kent about the four-finger handshake?

We also find out about next season. I’ll leave that for after the break.

Down to four. Can Malcolm grab the win that seems to be resting in the palm of his hand? What could possibly derail that train?

The show does something with the reward challenge that I can’t remember seeing before. It’s an interesting twist and I kind of like it even if the actual thing seems to be too much.

Dexter
Surprise, Motherf**ker!

Original Air Date: Dec 16, 2012

Karen Belgrad- Senior Editor
karenbelgrad@ thetwocentscorp.com

Once again, as in the season four and season six finales, I have to pause and take a deep breath after watching an intense final episode. At the end of last season, we all wondered what the next season would bring. This time, we’re left to wonder what the series will be?

Because out of all the possible endings, I’ll admit that is not the one I saw coming? I was fairly certain a cast member would die, but I couldn’t guess who and certainly not how. So read on for my TwoCents, and most importantly share your opinions below.

Dear TV Claus,

I’ve been doing my best to be good all year TV-wise: watching my shows dutifully every week, writing for some of them, and trying to save those that struggled in the ratings. So here’s my list of what I’d like to see for the holidays

1. A return air date for TNT’s Perception

2. Better ratings and at least one more season for Parks and Recreation. I mean, at least we’ll get to see Ben and Leslie’s wedding, but I want to see more!

3. New roles for the cast of USA’s Fairly Legal. I’m hoping you had something to do with Sarah Shahi’s guest role on Chicago Fire?

Mr. Claus,

I don’t have a lot of word for ya, so let’s just get too this – shall we?

1) Please bring Liza Weil back to my TV full time. Guest appearances on Shonda Rhimes shows are not enough.

2) Please un-graduate the Glee college kids or go full time to New York. The *new* New Directions kids are boring.

3) Please bring Shawn Hunter, Mr. Feeney, and Eric Matthew to Girl Meets World. I need my Feeney call!
