Comic-Con 2013
Beauty & the Beast Panel Teases Big Secrets for Next Season

Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer

When a TV series doesn’t have any footage from the upcoming season to show diehard fans at Comic-Con, they should do what the Beauty & the Beast panel did Thursday. Show the gag reel.

Not only did it show a little more personal view of the actors, but it put everyone in a very good news. Joining producers Jennifer Levitt and Sherri Cooper were stars Jay Ryan and Kristin Kreuk.

Meanwhile, the panel revealed a few juicy spoilers for next season, including that the mythology will no longer be contained within a season, but will be written to go over several seasons.

— The new season will start three months after the last season concluded.
— We’ll see more supercharged Vincent as his capabilities were upgraded when he was captured. “His skills are much more honed,” teased Ryan.
— There will be much more for JT this season, including a romance (hinting it might be Catherine’s partner).
— More will be revealed on the mastermind of Mirrorfield.
— We’ll get more on Catherine’s father. “It’s juicy,” said Kreuk about the big reveal that her father is alive. “It’s a big secret.”

As for Vincent and Catherine’s kiss at the end of last season, the romance will continue. “This season is about building a relationship,” promised Levitt. “The theme for this year is ‘Who am I?’ And part of that is if they’re in love.”

Speaking of romance, a fan asked if anyone on the panel read the fan fic for the series. The only one who said yes (or would admit it) was Ryan. “It’s sort of like Beauty & the Beast if it were on HBO,” he said to cheering and whistling crowd.

A few swooned thinking of the HBO version of B & B!
