Annie and Auggie head to Colombia to prove Henry wrong, Joan has surprising news and Arthur has a surprise of his own in the long-awaited season premiere. And, it was totally worth the wait.

The season starts on an intense elevator scene while Annie is on the phone with Auggie as he attempts to stop her from doing whatever it is she was going to do, and the scene ends with guns blazing. And, then BAM! We flash back to ten weeks prior to a different kind of intense scene between them. What I’m calling the best “morning after” scene I’ve seen in a while, which was so very perfect and includes a confession from Annie about what happened with Henry.

She let Auggie know what Henry has on Arthur, a money trail leading back to a Colombian gang/army and some person called “The Puma.” She also tells him what’s at stake, Auggie’s job security and Arthur’s position. Flashing back even further to her meeting with Henry where he basically predicts what will happen. As he predicts, Auggie’s clearance drops as they requisition his hard drives and what Henry said was beginning to happen.

The only way to clear Auggie’s name is to follow the money trail, which leads Annie and eventually, Auggie, to Colombia to stand by her side.

Arthur and Joan know about Annie and Auggie because it brought them back to their Chesapeake trip when they were first together. It was absolutely adorable how they acted like such parents, which doesn’t last as Arthur learns where they went.

Meanwhile in Colombia, Annie and Auggie come up against Calder Michaels (Hill Harper), the Agency’s station chief and they’re off to a rocky start. Michaels saving them and eventually come to an agreement that doesn’t seem to please both sides.

Inevitably, Annie and Auggie find themselves in trouble, getting shot at by some sort of gang that leads them to a mysterious man named Teo, who we later learn in a twist I didn’t see coming – is Arthur’s son!

I’ll give you a moment to process that.

He’s all but seemingly welcoming but, seems to want to know just as bad as Annie does. And, of course, even with the conversation between the three of them and the warning to stay away, Annie goes on her own to find Teo again, leaving Auggie with Calder at the hotel bar. As Annie tries to find out what Arthur wanted with Teo, they get attacked by men on a motorcycle. He tells her that he’s done with him and is understandably upset about continuously getting shot at. Who wouldn’t, really? The perils of hanging with Annie and Auggie.

Back in the states, Joan has got a secret of her own…she’s pregnant! And, just couldn’t manage to tell Arthur. With interruptions from Arthur’s mysterious phone call and the really weird interaction with Henry about Jay’s birthday at the restaurant, leaving the cocktail with Colombian rum at the table, I could see there wasn’t time.

Arthur meets up with a mysterious woman in a parking garage, telling her that they’re “ending it.” She seemed to be very upset and I can’t wait to figure out why. I’m taking predictions!

Auggie meets up with Arthur and things quickly turn a bit defensive, when he tells Arthur about what happened with Teo in Colombia and how it’s important to read Annie in. But Arthur won’t hear any of it and threatens Auggie with his own secrets, which made me gasp. More secrets!

And, just when you thought all of the twists of the premiere, we learn that Arthur is stepping down, just as Henry annoyingly foretold.

With just as many answers as there were questions popping throughout the episode, it was a great set up for the season. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

What secret is Auggie hiding? And, what else is Arthur up to?! When will Joan tell Arthur? Share your TwoCents below!

The flashback is actually to 10 weeks prior not 2 weeks prior.

  2. Karen says:

agree..10 weeks is the timeline. I think it will take the full 10 weeks of episodes to see this play out. So Arthur has a son, and a baby on the way…very interesting. I think the woman that Art was talking to is somehow related to Auggie’s little secret. In fact…I know it is.😉

  3. SO far yesterday’s episode I love it twist and turns and I love finally seeing Annie and Auggie together. Those scenes between Piper and Chris only definitely major hot chemistry and these two characters are meant to be the question is how long now we finding out Auggie has secrets of his own that he is keeping from Annie so with that it will be a key whether they stay together or not. Even though I am a big fan happy seeing them together it won’t last. I can’t wait for these 10 weeks to play out through the season.

I know I am not alone in this opinion, but I really can’t stomach the Auggie and Annie relationship. It is VERY high-school-ish. Friends, yes…but lovers? Not believable unless she has regressed emotionally after everything she has been through. Corman and Ord seem to be in love with Auggie themselves so the show is doomed. After 3 years of loyal viewership I can’t watch anymore. Shame. I love a good spy story but what I am getting is a soap opera/Romance novella mess.
