All this talk of race, gender and nationality has made me realize how much I would love an actress like Marianne Jean-Baptiste to play the role. I’d love another British actor or actress to be cast, because as universal as Doctor Who is, it is British at its core. So yes, Hugh Laurie is another interesting idea. As is Jack Davenport. I’m still licking my wounds a little over the fact that Smash has come to an end and can really picture him in this role.

I love the adorkableness of Matt Smith, but I’d love for the next character to be a little less physical. I’d love for their humour to be more sarcastic and a little less slapstick. I’m so excited.

If I had a choice Chris Eccleston. Yes he was intense but he could quite silly with the Go to your room & banana bits. If not Nathaniel Parker. Jesse Birdsall. Craig McLachlan. Jonny Lee Miller. Could go American, Alexis Denisof (Wesley) and James Marsters (Spike) as well as Stargate/Sanctuary/Supernatural Amanda Tapping have great British accents. Clive Owen, Joseph Morgan. Ben Barnes who was in the Narnia Chronicles.
