HBO has renewed the comedy series “Girls” for a 12 episodes third season. The premiere episode of the second season already exceeds a gross audience of 3.8 million viewers with only partial data available.

Created by and starring Lena Dunham (“Tiny Furniture”), GIRLS takes a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of four girls in their early 20s. The show recently received two Golden Globes, for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Lena Dunham); last September, GIRLS won an Emmy® for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.
