So, we have our final two. Did you guess right? Did the best two go through?

The evening started with a group number of “Got To Get You in My Life,” which – like most group numbers – seemed like a giant waste of time.

The Ford video seemed even more of a filler, but for the first time in a while, I liked the concept – a silent movie. But with just Joshua and Jessica doing it, the result seemed flat. Once again, Phillip had bowed out – was it because of his health?

We watched two good, but not great, performances. A pretaped Lisa Marie Presley – sang “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.” Boy, does she lack any real stage presence. Of course, that can’t be said for former Idol finalist Adam Lambert who gave great stage, but lacked a solid tune to make his performance something memorable.

OK, so it finally same down to THE moment. The first contestant declared safe was Jessica. As much as I love this girl, she was really low in the polls. I have to wonder if the producers just wanted a female in the finale. Joining her in the Final Two is Phil Phillips.

OK, this is soooo hard to believe. Joshua has sung circles around the café crooner. He has gotten more standing ovations from the judges than any one else, ever.

In fact, I have big problems with Phil – limited range, making everything sound the same and a real lack of stage presence. But my biggest issue is that he’s gotten this far based on the fact that the girls think he’s cute.

OK, I guess I may take this Idol stuff too seriously. What about you? Did you like the final two? Were you sad to see Joshua singing to his mom and saying goodbye? Are you ready to toast in a winner next week? Give us your TwoCents…

  1. Ken says:

This came down to who the little girls thought was cuter. Josh sung rings around Phil, but he just was not gonna win because he wasn’t as cute as Phil. Even if he had made it to the final 2. Phil would still walk away with the title. This will be my last time watching Idol until they can do something about the cute factor vs the best singer. Josh was totally robbed. But it has happened now for the past few years on Idol. They should take a hint from the other so-called reality shows and go with a winner rather than a cutie. Nuff said!

  2. My vote goes to Phillip. Trust me when I say he’s waaay too young to be anything other than cheek-pinching cute to me, but I genuinely enjoy him as an artist. Josh is a phenomenal singer, but I can’t see myself chilling on the patio with friends and listening to one gigantic power song after another from Josh. I can totally imagine listening to Phillip’s stuff in a real life situation.

With that being said, I was hoping for a Josh/Phillip finale. Jessica has a powerful voice, but doesn’t have the experience to back it up. I cringed all season listening to a little girl sing grown-woman songs.
