Some Creatures prep and rob a jewelry store. The owner hides himself in the vault, and palms some gold coins. He dies when the thieves blow up the vault door. The thieves are at each others throats even though they all look like the same Creature. Most of them end up killing each other, and a new bad guy enters the picture. Oh my.
The dead jewelers stomach contains three gold coins. Old, mysterious gold coins. Nick’s Grimm ability follows a car, they find a house with our two bad guys, their dead friends and all the other coins. Nick and Hank apprehend the big bad, but the thief gets away.
Hank is acting like a macho jerk. Getting rough with the suspect, and getting in the captains face. Seems like the coins make people act differently. Captain looks at the shiny, makes a call in French, and proves his shadiness again.
Nick talks to the suspect, who is surprisingly open and forthright. He explains the origin of the coins and why they were snatched. Out bad guy on the loose has killed the backup cop (I guess a beat cop uniform is the new red jersey). Now he shows up in the parking lot and is all creepy with our darling coroner. Nick and Monroe convene at the magical mystery trailer to do some research. The suspect is the birdie looking Steinadler. And the rogue thief is a wolfie Shakels. The Shakel is prone to eating babies and the Steinadler is a military dude but could be shady.
The Captain is high on power. He is scary now. Even scarier than usual. Coroner is in the hospital. Nick and Hank look around in the Steinadler hotel room, and find an old film reel. Lucky for him, Monroe just delighted upon an old camera. Convenient. The Shakel has done a mini-makeover and is now sliding into the uniform of the guy he killed. (Is it just me or do Nick and Hank dress kind of casually for detectives? He’s wearing a hoodie! end rant) He even shows up at the hyped press conference the Captain is holding. Cue up the “bad things about to happen” music!
Nick decides to trust the Steinadler and lets him out of the cell to help them track down the Shakel. Now there’s a gun fight in a dark parking garage. While Nick and Hank are blasting away, the Stein takes care of the Captain. He takes this opportunity to steal the coins. So Nick confronts him at the hotel room where the guy was hiding the film reel. Which we now watch, it’s a film of Hitler, wearing the coins as lapel buttons. It also flashes him as a Shakel. Oooo, twist!
Cool twisty episode tonight! Seems like Nick and Juliette are all right, for now. Nice to see Nick not put Monroe in harm’s way for a change too! What do you think?

Interesting factoid: the blonde girl getting interviewed in the police station about 40 minutes into the episode is from my hometown in Oregon named Natalie. She has cancer and one item on her bucket list was to “be on a TV show.” The producers of ‘Grimm’ came through in a big way, even giving her a few lines. Here is her FB page for those interested in learning more about this awesome girl:
