The opening scene consists of a wealthy couple (The Fergusons) dining, spliced with them being badly beaten right at their own dinner table. Beaten, bound and gagged, Elizabeth was able to dial 911. Her husband, Ron, was murdered. It’s up to the CSI team to figure out what happened in between.
The answer is A LOT. It’s no easy journey to reach the final solution. At first, it seems the Fergusons’ marriage is a happy one, and that Ron is a successful businessman. Their daughter was still out at a movie theatre, watching The Rocky Horror show. The only evidence the team is able to go on is a description Elizabeth was able to give of her attacker, a torn piece of playing card, and the empty package used to lure Elizabeth into opening the door.
The package has some candlewax and impressions of candleholders. Somehow, Lindsay is able to figure out the kind of candles that were stored in there and is able to get a list of all the places they were distributed to. There’s a lot of legwork, which Flack complains about to Lindsay, but they finally catch a guy who matches Elizabeth’s description: Mark Johnson.
Mark Johnson admits to having robbed the Fergusons, but he denies killing Ron and he also refuses to give up his partner. Thankfully, the CSI team has a new suspect. Ron kept a second cellphone hidden in the safe. It contains angry voice messages from Ron’s business partner, Philip Roth.
Roth paints a very different picture of Ron, explaining that Ron was very unhappy in his marriage, so much so that Ron was driving the business into the ground to ensure Elizabeth wouldn’t get any money in the divorce. Roth admits to leaving threatening messages Ron’s phone, and slashing one of Ron’s paintings, but he did not kill the man.
It seems that Ron was also cheating with his wife online, however, when they bring in Ron’s mistress, it turns out that Ron was flirting with a fake profile. Elizabeth created a fake profile based on a real woman, and then pursued an online relationship with her own husband. It is possible that she was going to use it as evidence in the divorce.
Meanwhile, Adam has been examining the torn piece of playing card found at the crime scene. It is covered in traces of root beer, a specific brand which can be tracked back to the movie theatre that the daughter, Megan, was supposedly at during the break-in and murder. The CCTV shows Megan entering, but it doesn’t show her exiting because she left via a back door, before the show even started.
Megan confesses to being Mark Johnson’s partner. He’s her boyfriend, and they planned the robbery together so they could get the money to run away together. Ron was wasting all the money, so Megan needed to act quickly. Ron still fought to defend himself, so Mark had to react with the butt of his gun.
For some length of time, Sid struggled with Ron’s cause of death. The laceration to his head was not enough to kill him. He died from lack of oxygen, which could sometimes happen with head injuries. The real cause of death was suffocation though. Mark and Megan may have raided the Ferguson’s home, Mark may have even hit Ron, but they did not kill him.
The only possible explanation left is that Elizabeth killed her husband. However, Elizabeth was bound and gagged, which she is eager to point out. Even Mac telling her that her Megan has confessed doesn’t force Elizabeth’s hand. She’s a real ice queen. Thankfully, where there’s a crime, there’s usually the evidence to prove it. Oils from Ron’s face were found on the sleeve of Elizabeth’s shirt, clearly showing the mouth and nose. It’s a horrifying thought!
The episode ends with a little bit of a cliffhanger. For the case, Lindsay and Jo set up a fake internet profile for Mac Taylor. After the case has been solved, Mac sits down at his computer and notices a friend request. He goes to decline it, but it’s good to see Mac being personally adventurous and he accepts the friend request. Close on Mac’s indecipherable yet ominous looking face! Who could it be?
I loved this episode. The case required a lot of work, but the CSIs were more than capable. It wasn’t all work and no play though, as Flack’s dialogue with Lindsay and the fake profile set up for Mac provided some entertainment and relief from the case, whilst not detracting from it. Very tight. I enjoyed it a lot.
What are your thoughts on the case? Did you suspect the wife, or did you think it was somebody else entirely? How awesome is the Rocky Horror Show? Who do you think friended Mac Taylor? Please leave a comment with your TwoCents.

I think Mac’s friend will be his wife or someone trying to be her or some one we all know from Mac Taylor’s past
