Here’s a good rule for all men: If your wife asks you if she looks fat in a piece of clothing, say “no” so fast you break the talking speed limit. You knew that one? Good. Now here’s another one: If your ex-wife asks you to vet her for a run for senator, your answer better be the same as above.

But Eli didn’t talk to me before he said, “yes” to ex-wife Vanessa. And when Kalinda does the vetting, she discovers a huge skeleton in the ex’s closet. Seems Vanessa slept with a man named Omar, whose last name just happened to be Bin Ladin. To make matters much, much worse, she did it while still married to Eli. Surprise Eli!

A side note: Why do people with skeletons in their closets never think those rattling bones will be discovered when they run for office? This isn’t the era of 1940s polite politics folks!

Cary gets to play a big role in this episode and not just because one of his colleagues keeps moving him to smaller, more humbling office space or that he finally scores with someone (in this case, another colleague about to leave the state attorney’s office). He’s on the case of two college students who appear to have murdered and raped a female student on a booze cruise.

Alicia is also on the case, along with the new hire Caitlin, who proves she’s new, but not that clueless. Adding a few twists and complications to the case is that both boys are sons of foreign diplomats and therefore have immunity. Ouch!

Turns out, that there’s a loophole and one of the boy’s immunity doesn’t hold up. So Lockhart/Gardener has to prove he’s innocent. The chess game with Cary is the interesting part of the story as they each try to outsmart and out move each other.

But in the end, it’s all for naught, because the boy is guilty. Caitlin learns a bitter lesson on her first case, but it seems she’s still playing with fire as she makes it clear to us that she’s interested in Will. Will has proven that his morals are extremely flexible. This could signal trouble later down the road.

Meanwhile, Will meets Zach for the first time. And when Will asks Alicia if he should meet the kids formally, she says no. It wasn’t that clear, but I think he was a little shaken by that. Maybe he’s feeling too much like a boy toy.

Do you think Caitlin will tempt Will? Did you enjoy that Cary got a great office at the end of the episode? Is Caitlin as innocent as she’s playing? Give us your TwoCents…

  1. Christine says:

There is no way Caitlin is as innocent as she appears. I really hope that Will doesn’t succumb!
