You know who I love better than Sheldon? Sheldon when his mom is around. And Sheldon’s mom is in rare form this visit, wanting to visit Hollywood and being more un-PC than ever before.
Between giving Penny advice on how to get a guy, Leonard advice on how to keep his girl and Raj advice on how to stop being lonely, she barely has any time for her precious “Shel-y.” But don’t worry, it all works out in the end … and with a special surprise!
In usual Sheldon fashion, he assumes his mom (she has a name – Mary), is going to make him his favorite fried chicken but instead the boys take her for sushi. This begins a long string of politically incorrect remarks. Mary also runs into all of the gang. Raj is “drunk as a skunk” outside Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment, spending time with his “six new friends” (bottles of beer). Mary tries to talk him through his loneliness. She runs into Penny while doing Sheldon’s laundry and talks to her about her inappropriate clothes for finding and keeping a man.
Mary decides she wants to go to Hollywood and tour around. The gang is excited to go with her only to find out it’s a tour of churches. Anyone who knows these guys knows this is not their kind of tour. Sheldon, upset, starts to get sick (and goes to Amy – so cute!). He then sits outside on a bench waiting out his sadness. While he discusses his sadness with a stranger, it starts to rain. So he gets a cold. He goes home to Mary, who puts Vapor Rub on his chest (which apparently has hair on it since the last time she did it…gross). To make up for that image? We get “Soft Kitty!”
Although I love me some BBT, this episode was missing some things. For one, it was missing a subplot. And although Mary is a hilarious character, I would have liked to have seen some more Amy and Sheldon interaction (or even some Amy and Mary?). But I am thankful for the return of “Soft Kitty.” Anything is made better by some SK! But those are just my thoughts. What are yours? Leave your two cents below!

Classic Sheldon quote to Leonard: “You and I, in so many ways, other than intelligence and what counts, we’re the same.” LOL!
I loved this episode, because as you said in your recap, who do we love more than Sheldon, but Sheldon with his mom. They’re a hoot, together.
