This show just keeps getting better and better as we move towards finally finding out who it is that was shot at the engagement party they foreshadowed, and we learn the twisted history that ties all these characters together. While we know there is a death coming up, this week we got the surprise of an unexpected death, the fallout of which I can’t wait to find out!
In an unwelcome twist, Lydia returns to use whatever leverage she has to regain her spot in the society, including her home. Telling Emily she is contesting the sale, she warns her that she is also looking for a way to destroy her. Of course, while she seems to realize Emily isn’t as sweet as she portrays, I don’t think she really understands just who it is she is threatening.
Or maybe she does but doesn’t care, considering her willingness to use whatever she can to also force Victoria and Conrad into line, first with the demand of a check that turns out was for $10 million, and then to demand Victoria welcome her back into the fold. She makes it known if she doesn’t get what she wants, she will ruin them by revealing their framing of David Clarke.
Emily doesn’t waste any time working to get Lydia out of the way, mentioning her desire to get back the house to Victoria. But the real ploy involves sending her a box of her things from the house, embellished with a few items to frame her for things like the situation with Dr. Banks and the Senator. The box also includes an unintended plus: a sperm whale figurine with a camera in it Noland planted in Emily’s house.
It is fortunate it traveled there though, as Noland is able to see that Lydia is on to something that could interrupt Emily’s plans: a photo of Victoria and Lydia from a 2003 event includes a dark-haired waitress in the background who looks like Emily. Even worse for Emily though, when she worked the event her name was still Amanda Clarke, and Lydia is getting the lists of employees from catering companies that may have worked the event.
In the end, after the Graysons avoid Lydia revealing their involvement in laundering funds for Ameri-Con when she introduces them for an honor at a charity event, she encounters Frank in her apartment. After a brief struggle, he sends her over the edge of her balcony and on to the top of a taxi, calling Victoria to leave a message that Lydia jumped.
Thankfully, Noland enters the apartment after Frank has left, looking for a fax that would give Lydia the name of Amanda Clarke as working the dinner where Emily is in the picture. He grabs the whale while he’s there, and ends up with footage incriminating Frank in the attack on Lydia. Disturbing!
A happy (?) development in the relationship of Daniel and Emily finds them talking through their Tyler-induced miscommunication, and ending a night out at the Open Arms Gala by taking the next step in their relationship and spending the night together at Emily’s house. I questions whether this is happy or not only because her involvement with Daniel seems to be a part of her revenge plans, and not a genuine attraction on her part.
Great to see Decland making some headway with Charlotte, as she gets a bit reckless and takes off with the $200,000 car her father got Victoria to soothe his Lydia-guilt, and the two of them find themselves arrested when they take it out for a joyride.
And just to make things even more fun, Tyler maneuvers himself into an internship with Conrad, and though Daniel is ordered to take one as well he declines. It was great to see him stand up to his father and explain that he doesn’t want to follow his path, and accepting his father freezing his trust, causing him to take a bartending gig at Jack’s bar. Well that should be interesting!
What revelations will next week bring us?

This episode had me on the edge of my seat! I don’t know what Emily intended to happen when she printed out those articles and put them in the box to give to Lydia along with the Hamptons Exposed DVD… Perhaps she thought Lydia wouldn’t care much about the papers but if Frank snooped and found them first he’d know Lydia was behind it? She got lucky, if Lydia had found them first she likely would have used that against Emily too, along with the picture.
I feel bad for Lydia, Emily didn’t mean for her to get injured, she just took the fall too literally. But now, I sort of hope she dies. That is terrible, I know, but we don’t want Emily to be exposed just yet. Though with the last episode it looks like Frank is going to do some serious digging.
I had been checking every day for a review, this says it was posted on the 19th but I never saw it until today!
Yes Frank is going to pose a real problem! Especially now that he’s got some extra motivation to really use all his abilities to dig into Emily. I don’t know how much deep digging her cover can really withstand! And if he does find out who she really is…we don’t even want to go there!
And yes, the post is dated for the 19th but due to some problems I wasn’t able to actually get it up until last night. And now tonight I have the next episode up. Sorry about that for those that are (like me) crazy about following the show! Thanks for following the posts!
Noland left his finger prints all over the place, but especially on the rail that Lydia went over. I think Noland is going to have some serious problems some time soon. If he has to reveal his recording of Frank attacking Lydia, the authorities are going to want to know what he was doing there, why he was recording, and much more.
This is a great series.
Ooo, didn’t even think of the fingerprints! Any investigation will have Nolan scrambling for some sort of excuse why his fingerprints should be there, and there isn’t a good one. No one would buy that they were friends, or in contact, or anything. And if he reveals the footage to the authorities, well that’s a whole other set woes. And I don’t think he’ll hold out long before turning over Emily…or would he? Is his fascination with her just fulfilling his promise to her father to watch over her, does he like her? Would he put his neck out to keep her out of trouble? Probably not very far!
