I never expected to be embarrassed by The Good Wife, but this week I was. The entire case revolved around a man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He entered a convenience store just at the time for a robbery — but the police seem to think he killed the clerk.

One simple test, which I believe is standard procedure, would have cleared this up fast. Did they test his hands for gunpowder residue? No. They found his fingerprints on a card display and think that’s enough to indict. And no one on his pro bono defense team thinks of asking for the test? I don’t buy it at all.

That’s just sloppy writing. Seriously. Not all what I expect from this show.

The only fun thing about the case is Harvey Fierstein as the judge. He’s hoot as he tries to feed everyone and gets star struck by Amani Stonehouse, the Department of Justice liaison that Peter has brought into the State’s Attorney’s office to “keep it honest.”

It takes Kalinda to discover the “eye witness” was really the perpetrator, so the innocent guy is returned to his wife and kid.

Diane doesn’t get off so easy. When Eli demands Alicia and Kalinda full-time, she decides the firm needs to stop being so poor so Eli can’t boss them. She instructs Will to acquire Celeste’s old firm and sets out to tell legal aide that she won’t be taking on any more pro bono cases.

Turns out that Celeste is more of a piece of work she seemed last week. She plays cat and mouse with Will then asks him to come work for her — dangling the possible job of baseball commissioner at him. When he refuses (and it’s not an easy decision for him) she “introduces” Will and Peter. Talk about awkward with a capital A.

Meanwhile, Diane feels so guilty about legal aide, which is losing its office space, that she proposes letting them move in with Lockhart/Gardner.

Oh, and one other little thing. Will tells Alicia he loves her, sort of. They’re on the phone and he signs off that way. She tells him it’s OK, she understands, but later he want to talk about it and she doesn’t. Here’s my theory: I think he really meant it.

Do you think Will loves Alicia? Did you think Will was going to leave the firm for a life of baseball glory? Is there a little heat happening between Kalinda and Eli? Give us your TwoCents…

glad you mentioned the gunpowder test–I’ve seen it on so many other shows!

But I am quick to forgive because this show is just SO GOOD!!!

I love this show too but that’s the first thing my husband asked: where’s the test for GPR? And that card display business – wow. Pretty weak at best. I love the idea that LG is going to take Legal Aide in – many interesting possibilities. But it was a 180 degree turn for Diana! And Will? I don’t like him, never did. Don’t think he is worth Alicia. And I love Celeste – just the kind of barracuda to shake things up! LE is an exciting actress – she improves everything she is involved with!! House’s loss is GW’s gain!!
