Troy and Abed get a new apartment and host a housewarming party. Shirley is baking in their kitchen. She made pizza out of ketchup and cream cheese.  Mmmm, my favorite but Abed is disturbed and says they’ve ordered real pizza.  Troy and Abed studied a book from the 40’s on how to be perfect hosts. Jeff plans to leave early to hit up a club but Abed just made the flyer up in Photoshop so Jeff would keep the night open. Nice.

Troy and Abed suggest they all play Yahtzee. As they play, the real pizza shows up and the delivery person has to be let in downstairs. Jeff rolls the dice to see who’s going to go and let the pizza guy in. He starts counting off to his left and he says if your number comes up on the die, you have to go down and get the pizza.  Abed tells Jeff he’s making six other timelines. Annie number comes up to get the pizza.

Random things happen like: Britta puts on an iPod with Roxanne then Abed shows her where the bathroom is. Jeff hits his head on the fan. Pierce talks about having sex with Eartha Kitt and gives Troy a housewarming gift. Shirley offers everyone pie.

We skip to Shirley’s timeline where she leaves to get the pizzas and asks everyone to make sure her pies don’t burn. Jeff leads everyone to promise not to eat the pies. All the other stuff from before happens and they let the pies burn. Shirley gets upset.

This time it’s Pierce. Britta is smoking in the bathroom. Troy comes in because Jeff picked on him. Jeff and Annie flirt in the kitchen. Britta and Troy bond over candy cigarettes in the bathroom.

Next up is Britta. Jeff bangs his head on the fan and Annie takes him to the bathroom to check it out. They flirt and almost kiss. Pierce holds Troy hostage with a troll doll. Britta is going to marry the pizza delivery guy.

Troy is next. The boulder from Abed’s Indiana Jones miniature set causes Annie to fall on the coffee table spilling alcohol, Pierce accidentally gets shot with Annie’s gun when her purse falls to the floor. Shirley gets sprayed with Pierce’s blood and when Britta comes in and sees the mayhem, she drops the lit cigarette from her mouth causing the liquor to catch fire. The whole floor is ablaze when Troy comes back in.

Abed’s turn. He asks for money from everyone. Britta eats one of Shirley pies after lighting up in the bathroom. Troy is nice to Pierce who won’t give Troy the troll doll. Annie and Jeff kiss in the kitchen. Shirley calls Britta a godless hippie skank.
In the last roll, Abed catches the dice so that no new timeline will be created. He points out that the timeline they’re on is the only true one because a die only has six sides and there are seven study group members so Jeff is a conniving S.O.B. as usual.  Apparently, that’s the reality test, much like the spinning top from Inception.  They send Jeff down for the pizza. When he comes back, everyone is dancing and having a great time. It’s sweet.

At the end, Shirley is drinking and pours one out for Pierce. This is the aftermath of Troy’s timeline. Pierce died from the gunshot wound, Jeff lost an arm in the fire, Annie is institutionalized, and Troy tried to eat the troll doll and ruined his vocal cords. He talks with a throat kazoo now.

This was an incredibly hard episode to recap because the same things kept happening over and over again. I will say that it was incredibly well done. The writing on this show is impeccable. Poor Troy’s timeline was depressing. I’m kind of bothered that they ended with that one, funny as the throat kazoo is. Nice touch with singing the Troy and Abed jingle.

Which timeline was your favorite? Did you see the Jeff and Annie kiss coming? Leave a comment with your two cents!
