Wow! What a way to end the hour premiere of Modern Family! The first half of the hour was filled with plots but this was just plain entertainment! We all know from last seasons finale that Cam and Mitchell want to adopt a boy and now they are ready to tell the entire family!

The only problem though is that Lily (loving the new Lily) isn’t liking this younger sibling thing.

Mitchell is worried about adopting because Lily is now saying “kill new baby” and other hateful words to the possible new addition to the family. He figures out that Cam and Lily are very attached and Cam will not give her any independence so she is used to getting all of the attention. Mitchell tries to separate Cam and Lily and Cam is horrified at this. I agree with Mitchell! Cam doesn’t even take her to Pre-Kindergarden because he is afraid to leave her alone!

Now, we turn to Claire. I love Claire because I am an exact copy of her except in man form! While Phil and Claire are at the grocery store, Claire falls into a stack of cans because Phil pushed the cart into her while looking at another women. Phil denies that he caused her to fall and if you’ve watched Claire in the past seasons, she always has to be right just like me! She becomes obsessed about this, even getting the security tape to prove Phil did knock her over. It turns out that she is right but the entire family is creeped out by her perfect behavior.

Then we have the Manny situation. Manny ends up accidentally stealing a girls locket at school and the principal calls about it. It was so funny to see Gloria talking on the phone to the principal about Columbia and the “Columbian neck tie”. Jay wants him to confess to the principal but Gloria uses her skills to pop the girl’s locker open in seconds and they put the locket in there. Meanwhile, the Dunphy kids are fighting over getting their own rooms but Claire has to be right so she makes Luke leave his newly found attic room.

Towards the end of the episode, the whole family gathers at Cam and Mitchell’s house for an announcement! Before hand, Mitchell tells Cam to tone it down a little bit but a banner and music is as low-key as Cam gets! Anyway, the Mitchell lets out the news too soon so Cam rushes to drop the banner and music which was hilarious! The family takes it well and Jay offers some wisdom that Claire hated having a younger sibling and so did I!

Favorite Moments:

-“It’s a banner and some light musical accompaniment. I don’t have a lower key.”-Cam telling Mitchell he isn’t going any lower key on the announcement.

-“Good morning, princess. Good morning, Lily.”-Mitchell to Cam and Lily.

-“Cam wears her like a fanny pack.”-Mitchell talking to the family about Cam’s attachment tp Lily.

-“Is this why I’m afraid of tumbling?! I HAD TO QUIT GYMNASTICS, CLAIRE!” — Mitchell, after learning Claire put him in a dryer as a child.

I definitely enjoyed this episode more than the first one. I just like it when the family gets together and I liked how the storylines wove together in the end. And that tumbling quote and the end had me LOL. Mitch had some great lines!

I thought both episodes were excellent and Mitch had some great lines. I love it when the whole family gets together in one room! Hilarious!

Somehow I’ve managed to miss the first recaps of both this and BBT. Oh, well.
And, Will, it’s not that we always *have* to be right, it’s just that we always *are*. Remain confident that events will prove you out and to H E double-hockey sticks with the doubters! LOL (But on a serious note, that was one of the things that drove a wedge between my ex boyfriend and me. Guess I’ll just have to find my own Phil.)
I, too, love it when the family is in one room.
