There is a reason why Modern Family dominated the Emmy awards this past Sunday. This premiere shows you why. I had high expectations because it did dominate the Emmys and it went way past expectations. There wasn’t a moment when I wasn’t wiping tears from laughing so hard!
I have to say that this show resembles my family and how different we all are as people but we come together so good! This episode starts off with the whole family going on vacation. You know this is going to be good!
The family is going to a “dude ranch” as Phil calls it where you will get an authentic cowboy experience. I have to say Phil’s fake western accent was hilarious but shockingly real! When they get to the ranch, they meet there tour guide for the trip and the first thing he does is give everyone nicknames. Phil is Buffalo Phil, Claire is “Bossy”, Jay is “old-timer” and my ultimate favorite was “Gloria called “cactus flower”.
There was many plots this episode so it is hard to pick out a favorite but if I had to pick, it would Cam and Mitchell’s adoption dilemma. Mitchell is worried that perspective mother’s might not find him masculine enough so he says he needs to “butch” up his life. By far, the best line of the episode!
Anyway, as you can imagine, the trip turns into a disaster with everybody hating the activities such as the horse riding where Jay’s horse only turns left and he says it has had a stroke. Somehow, Haley convinces Claire to bring Dillon along and he ends up getting lost in the woods(not surprising) after Haley(mainly Claire) turns down Dillon’s proposal. Dillon finds himself as a ranch hand and he decides to stay at the “dude ranch”. While all of this is going on, Gloria, whose ears never popped getting off the plane, is talking louder than usual and of course we hear “JaaaY!”
