After only one night of dancing, someone is going to be eliminated. I’m not sure how I feel about this. While there are a couple of celebrities I would like to leave immediately, I feel bad that they’re not given a second chance to show the judges what they can do and if they can improve. But, the producers don’t ask my opinion, so elimination during week one it is.
It’s also a two hour results show, with the first hour dedicated to getting to know the celebrities. I honestly didn’t learn much except that Chaz Bono is afraid of Cheryl Burke and Rob Kardashian can’t count. Oh, and J.R. Martinez is hilarious!
Despite being introduced as Ron Artest last night, he did have his name changed and he is now officially Metta World Peace and is referred to as Metta for the rest of the evening. So is World a middle name and Peace the last name? Just curious what it’s going to say on his jersey.
The encore dance went to Carson and Anna. As Len said, it’s not always the best dance that gets the encore and Carson and Anna were chosen because they put the ha-ha-ha in the cha-cha-cha.
The first musical guest of the night was the always delish Harry Connick Jr. If only he had sang more than one song. Love him!
LMFAO performed as the other musical guest – anyone else notice Carrie Ann and Bruno dancing on top of the judges desk during their performance? I could have done without Bruno stripping.
So the dancers in jeopardy came down to Rob & Cheryl, Metta & Peta, and Nancy & Tristan at the end. The first elimination goes to Metta and Peta. While I’m not sorry to see Metta go, I am sorry to see Peta, a new pro this year, have to go home after one dance. I do think this was the right choice for elimination. What are your thoughts? Think this was the right choice, or were you pulling for someone else to go home? Leave me your two cents!

Dancing with the Stars is the best i love this…
Glad you’re enjoying it!
I agree that they should have given them one more chance to dance before kicking someone off. Loved HCjr! I really thought Nancy was going but I think Metta was too much for people. The recap show was really a waste of time and like you said, I did not learn a thing. It actually made me want to fast forward thru the elmination show since it was taking too long and seemed to be a repeat of what they just showed. Can wait for next week! Especially now that Christine helped me figure out how to use the DVR on my sling box.
So glad you got it figured out and are able to watch! I was getting a little worried when Nancy ended up in the bottom two, but I agree, I think Metta was too much for people. Since I’m not a basketball person, I don’t really know how many fans he has – I know he has a reputation of being disliked, so I guess not too many fans that watch the show.
I can understand why Metta was eliminated. As Artest he was likable
as Metta… Was he pretending to be Dennis Rodman?
I thought the same thing when he came out with the yellow hair! Apparently he’s trying to shed his bad boy image and adopt a new identity – hence the World Peace name.
