Jo calls Jim and asks him if he’d like to be the acting manager until they find a permanent replacement but Jim turns it down because everyone has been doing just fine without a manager thus far. Immediately after Jim hangs up the phone, Dwight’s phone rings and it’s Jo offering the manager job to him. Dwight takes it, of course. Pam and Jim look on in horror because they realize the fate that has befallen them.
Changes Dwight has made: a really old and dangerous time clock, terrifically huge business cards, staggered lunch breaks to eliminate loitering, saying the Pledge of Allegiance, copier codes. There are also blocked websites and coffee available on the honor code for 50 cents a cup. The vending machines have also been emptied.
Gabe confronts Andy about Erin. Gabe breaks down sobbing in the conference room. Gabe goes straight to Erin and tells her he loves her and begs her to come back. Later, Andy and Erin are chatting jovially in the break room when Gabe walks in and faux-casually asks Andy if he mentioned to Erin how he promised not to date her. Andy is all “yeah, I said it but only because you were sobbing like a little girl” and when Gabe insists that Andy meant it, Andy plays along. Poor Erin’s face during the whole exchange was tragic disappointment. Gabe is a tool and I hate him now. Shut up, Gabe.
Jim pretends to start a revolution club called The Fist to mess with Dwight. Since Jo is visiting Dwight asks Jim to be on his best behavior. Jim will do no such thing because he knows I love him when he’s naughty.
Dwight’s uncle sends him a gun holster as a congratulatory gift so Dwight takes the revolver out of the glass case on his desk and struts around the office with it in the new holster. Everyone insists he put the gun away and put a banana in the holster instead. As Dwight reluctantly agrees, he accidentally discharges the gun next to Andy’s ear. Andy’s ear is ringing and now he can’t find the perfect C. Gabe wants to call Jo and Dwight calls a conference.
Dwight starts off the meeting trying to do a cowboy character like Michael would have but he just can’t pull it off. Andy ends up going to the hospital and he’s got a busted ear drum. Everyone demands something in order not to spill the beans to Jo about the gun. Dwight gets sick of being blackmailed so he outs himself to Jo. She promptly demotes him. Dwight is visibly crushed.
Jo enlists Gabe, Jim, and Toby to find her a new manager and asks them who among them has the most experience and can fill in the gap in the meantime. Looks like it’s gonna be Creed. Oh yeah, mung beans for all.
Best part of this episode? Toby’s pure glee at being able to fill out a firearm accident report. He’s never gotten to do one of those before which clearly indicates that Dwight is even stupider than Michael. What did you like best about the episode? Leave me a comment with your two cents!

Seems a shame one lousy gun shot in the office and a career is ruined. I mean it’s not like he killed anybody. 🙂
