A couple of guys stand outside some kind of concrete structure out in the middle of a field. One of the guys gives the other one a boost and he tapes a photo on top of the concrete doohickey. They drive off and the guy doing the taping radios in that the area is clear.

The girl in the photo is some kind of bomb simulation director. The concrete thing gets blown to smithereens. So I guess these guys don’t like their boss (Wendy, the girl in the photo) so they wanted to blow her up? After the guys sit back and feel better about themselves, their boss has a seizure.   That can’t be a coincidence, right?

House sits on the butcher block in his kitchen and exercises his bum leg. During the differential, House is unusually thirsty. He says it’s due to the new antihistamine he’s on. Uh huh. We all know that House is using again according to the previews. Also Wilson bursts in and demands House pay up for losing their current bet on a boxing match. Wilson does an awkward dance that’s adorable. I love Wilson when he’s not being a sappy nag.

House meets with the boxer who lost and urges him to tell Wilson he threw the fight. The kid refuses because he didn’t throw it, he just lost. House tells Wilson that according to the boxer’s pupils it shows he has tachycardia and had no chance to win the fight therefore House doesn’t owe Wilson the $50.

Wendy’s boyfriend shows up and says that Wendy’s ex boyfriend is pretty much crazy and stalking her. Boyfriend thinks that the ex is poisoning her. Chase and Thirteen break into Wendy’s ex’s house but don’t find any stalker evidence. Thirteen and Foreman break into Wendy’s place and find her liquor stash. They think she’s been poisoning herself. With cocktails. Wendy says she doesn’t drink and she keeps empty liquor bottles for her friend who uses them in her art projects.

House has the boxer in for an EKG which is normal. The boxer says he just sucks. House says that they can figure out what’s making him sick so he won’t have to be a sucky boxer anymore. Foreman wants to know what’s going on because House is ignoring their patient. Wilson says that he approves of what House is doing because he’s been very un-House-like since the breakup and getting back to doing stupid House stuff is helping.

House sits on his butcher block exercising his leg again and is in obvious pain. He busts out some kind of medical bag and cooks what looks to be heroin over his stove and shoots it up. Aw, come on, House.

The next day, House goes to the boxing gym and shoots up his boxer friend with epinephrine to prove that the boxer is tachycardic. A very light punch should knock the boxer out but there’s no TKO. The boxer knocks House to the floor and yells at him to get out of his life. House looks stunned then goes home to shoot up some more. Thirteen walks in on him post injection. Thirteen calls House an idiot and also, it’s not heroin. It’s some kind of experimental drug that’s only been tested in rats so far. She calls him an idiot again. That’s pretty ironic coming from someone who also participated in an experimental drug program.

Exercising House again. He pulls out the drug bag and he’s out of meds. He heads out to the rat lab where he insults the technician and asks him to get him some coffee while House raids the unlocked drug cabinet. House exercises his leg again. He’s still in pain so he throws out his experimental drugs and throws back some Vicodin instead.

The crew still hasn’t figured out what’s wrong with their patient until they think she’s been exposed to too much radiation. That’s not it though because Wendy’s nethers are all swollen. Wendy’s boyfriend strongly protests the radiation treatment. Chase and Thirteen figure out that the only way he knows what isn’t killing Wendy is if he knows what is. They accuse him of attempted murder from poisoning Wendy.

House is still working on his boxer. There’s nothing wrong with the kid. House pays Wilson his $50 and when Wilson tries to talk House vandalizes his office to shut him up. House goes out and gets drunk. He gets in a bar fight and something happens to House’s leg, I think. He grabbed it so something was up. House goes back to the boxing gym and figures out what’s up with the boxer by poking him in the nape of his neck with the cane.

Wendy wakes up and asks where her boyfriend is. Thirteen says he’s in jail for poisoning Wendy with Spanish Fly.

House gets his money back from Wilson. House is feeling good and digs his experimental drug kit out of the garbage. I guess his leg feels better so he thinks the drugs are working. Unfortunately, the preview tells us that all the lab rats that were taking the drug are dying from tumors. Well, crap.

Looks like we had an Agatha Christie thing going on with the poisoning. I wonder if people really do that sort of thing. I thought this episode was just ok. There wasn’t much suspense or drama, just a lot of the group flailing without House. I guess it’s nice to know that House isn’t a heroin junkie. Not looking forward to seeing him cut out his own tumors or whatever it is that he’s doing in the preview for next week. Ouch. Leave me a comment and give me your two cents.

  1. Austin says:

No. It’s not “pretty ironic”. There is a huge difference in participating in clinical drug trials (which I believe were Phase III, but don’t quote me on that) and injecting a drug into your body that hasn’t even reached exploratory human testing yet.

One is risky, but the good of science, although at Phase III they should have worked out toxicity, because Phase III is only concerned with the efficacy of the treatment. It’s (supposed) to be done in a controlled fashion, and it’s not Thirteen’s fault that Foreman caught Save The Girl Syndrome and violated testing protocol by switching her to the test group.

    The other is just stupid.
