Deangelo holds a meeting in the conference room. He throws out some great things like Ice Cream Thursdays, a new chair for Toby, and business classes at night for Darryl. Deangelo doesn’t want anyone to be able to figure him out so he makes all these things sound like punishments. Kevin has him pegged. Deangelo is kind of crazy.
Deangelo has an inner circle of Kevin, Gabe, Jim, and Darryl. He reaches out to Dwight only to get shut down repeatedly. Deangelo straight up asks him why Dwight doesn’t like him. Dwight says he’s not a suck up so Deangelo should leave him alone.
Deangelo is in the market for a new assistant. One of the applicants listed juggling as a special skill. Deangelo does an intense and totally serious mime of a juggling act to Evanescence in the middle of the office. It’s really…weird.
Pam, Jim, Andy, Angela, and Phyllis talk about Deangelo in the break room over lunch. Pam makes fun of Deangelo’s juggling act. Angela calls Deangelo sexist because he never deals with the female department heads. Also, Andy has written a companion piece to The Vagina Monologues called The Penis Apologies. Ha! The ladies ask Jim to talk to Deanglo about sexism. Jim goes into Deanglo’s office. The other men of the inner circle bust in. Jim tells Deangelo that the ladies are feeling a little bit of discrimination.
Deangelo assures the office he is not sexist. He has Erin bring up his new assistant. It’s a young girl who has never had an office job and used to work at Anthropolgie. Oh, and she’s hot. Jim has been unceremoniously dumped from the inner circle. Of course it’s because Jim brought up the sexism thing.
Deangelo claims he can dunk like Michael Jordan so Jim suggests they go to the warehouse to prove it. Deangelo dunks it alright and ends up pulling the goal down on himself and landing on the concrete floor. Deangelo gets a ride in an ambulance. I know Deangelo ends up coming back to the office in his hospital gown with a bandage wrapped around his head but my DVR cut off the end of the episode. Stupid DVR. I have a feeling I didn’t miss much.
I have to say that I was just not feeling this episode. I was really hoping Will Ferrell was going to be brilliant but frankly, I think Deangelo is a really horrible character. He has no definition other than being weird and kind of mean. I know he’s a temporary addition but he seems like an afterthought to the writers. I don’t remember any chuckle-worthy moments in this episode. Ok, Pam’s mime juggling was kind of funny but that’s about it. What’s your opinion? Leave your two cents in a comment!

Welcome back!
I thought for sure Vickers would be fired for either (1) having no managerial skills or (2) sexual harassment. I didn’t think he’d leave because of brain trauma, but I’m totally OK with that. I love Will Ferrell, but DeAngelo was just an awful person. Maybe that’s why I didn’t love this episode. I actually felt sorry for Kelly. Kelly! Blerg.
Thanks, KP!
I’m glad Kelly stood up for herself at the end. I really don’t like Kelly or Ryan but I have more respect for her since she ratted Ryan out. He’s a jerk.
So did Deangelo get fired or quit at the end? My DVR cut it off.
