There are only two more episodes of Gossip Girl left this season and the buildup to the finale continues to grow. There were so many crazy moments this week, I lost count! Blair is still lost in her fairytale, Dan and Charlie are getting cozy and Chuck is headed into very dark territory.

Yes, Chuck hits a new low tonight. I didn’t think that was even possible…

Dan and Charlie

Let’s start with the most upsetting in this storyline. (Well, for me anyway!)Dan doesn’t mention his feelings for Blair once. What? Is this thing off again? The writers have been building this relationship all season, why are they throwing it all away? Why? Ok, rant over, I promise not to do it again. (Who am I kidding?) Anyway, Dan spends this episode making friends with potential nut-job, stalker Charlie, and helping his dad with a job interview. Rufus tells him that Charlie clearly has a crush on him (no kidding!). Wanting to avoid any complications, Dan makes it clear to Stalker girl that he just wants to be friends. However, unbeknownst to him, Vanessa has been in contact with Charlie, wanting the two of them to get together so that Dan can be saved from Blair’s “soul-crushing tendencies”. Why is Vanessa still on the show again? I’m too tired to care so let’s move on. Vanessa gives her all of this advice, thinking sweet Charlie will follow through. Obviously, it all blows up in her face because Charlie lives in her own Fatal Attraction remake. The episode ends with Dan and Charlie having dinner together. Uh oh. I really hope Dan gets a clue and fights for Blair because otherwise what was the point of the last half of the season?

Raina and the storyline no one cares about

I know it’s tragic; Raina’s mom was probably killed by Chuck’s evil dad. Why are the fans not connecting, though? I think it’s in part because of the actress and also because everyone is sick and tired of Chuck’s daddy issues coming back to haunt him. It’s been 4 seasons now, enough! Let’s move on, please! This week, Raina learns from Nate that Chuck has been hiding all of this information from her and she’s less than pleased. Furious, she makes poor, clueless Nate choose between his best friend and her. And she calls Jack Bass, of all people. What’s her endgame here?

Blair is finally happy…or is it just a fantasy?

The main storyline this week involved Blair and the men in her life (except Dan…sorry, it’s the last time I promise!) Queen B starts the episode on cloud 9 with her prince, thinking everything is perfect in her life, finally. But this is Gossip Girl and there is still 40 minutes left. In town for a visit, the prince’s mother is none too pleased to see her son with an “American”. The horror! Plus, Serena has been sending her old Gossip Girl posts of Blair, revealing all of her darkest secrets…All of that should drive the prince away, right? No, he wants to marry her! What? After two days together? Whatever, more unbelievable things have happened on this show. Anyway, things come to a head at the prince’s reception, when Chuck arrives, all drunk and erratic. After a horrible, no good, very bad day, Chuck literally has nothing left, what with all the Raina drama, so he turns to Blair, ready to propose to her too. That scene was so uncomfortable to watch, it was so sad and pathetic at the same time. Did he really think she was going to say yes? But it was nothing compared to the last scene between them, at Chuck’s apartment. Blair, newly engaged to the prince, wanted to tell him in person. Chuck thought she came back for him. So, in all his desperation and rage, Chuck breaks down completely and starts to get physical with Blair, pushing her onto the bed, telling her they’re soul mates, and that she belongs to him. It all ends with Blair pushing him away, and him smashing the glass above the bed, cutting Blair on the cheek in the process. I didn’t think he was going to rape her, but still, that scene was tense, and possibly one of the best acted. Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester were great.

Even though this was a Dair free episode (sorry!), it was one of the best of the season. Things are looking worse than ever for our favorite bad boy and Blair looks like she might finally get her happy ending. What do you think? Is the prince too good to be true? What is going to happen to Chuck? I have no idea what’s going to happen next, so give us your two cents!

NO DAIR? I guess I’ll skip this episode then! and if Dair is really off I guess it’s safe to say bye bye GG! (damn the writers for luring me back with Dair!)

    LOL!

I don’t think Dair is over, over…after all, the crazy promos for the last 2 episodes have played the whole “The prince, the dark knight, the pauper” to win Blair’s heart. But it is frustating as hell, yes! lol They were the best part of the show!

What a great episode, especially the end! I do really like how the Blair/Louis storyline is developing, and have had enough of Chuck (like everyone else).

Also thought it was so great that they used “Ladder Song” by Bright Eyes in the end montage (video is up at http://vimeo.com/23506076 ) Gossip Girl + Bright Eyes = me in heaven.
