After yet another hiatus, Grey’s Anatomy returns with the first episode after “Song Beneath The Song.” I really loved that episode and I know that a lot of fans did, but there are also enough fans who didn’t like it one bit. Apparently you either love it or hate it – there seems to be nothing in between.
In the last episode, little Sofia Robbin Sloan Torres was born and she had a very harsh welcome into this world. And while she fought for her life in the NICU her mom is struggling to get by in the ICU. Since both are too unstable to visit the other, Callie has only seen her daughter on pictures and videos. Both Mark and Arizona are taking turns visiting Callie and Sofia while they are working.
Callie wants the updates but what she really wants is to see her daughter, to be able to touch her and hold her. Since Callie is a health risk to her daughter, Bailey won’t allow her to visit Sofia. Cristina sets up a plan to make sure that Callie is able to at least see Sofia. In the middle of the graveyard shift, Cristina, Alex, Meredith, April, Lexie and Avery move Callie out of the ICU and bring her to the NICU. Of course Bailey almost discovers what they are doing but Avery distracts her by asking her how her day was. Really? Was there not a case or a patient he could ask a stupid question about? Of course since the question was so crazy and out there Bailey started a rant about her day which allowed the others to move Callie’s bed across the hallway behind her back! I loved that scene – it was so funny. Of course it was obvious what they were going to do but it was still funny to watch. Callie’s finally able to see her daughter, even if it is from the hallway through a glass pane. She’s more determined than ever to get better so that she will be able to hold her daughter and take care of her.
Meanwhile Meredith is risking the trial and her medical license when one of their trial patients dies. She convinces Derek that Adele’s condition has now deteriorated enough for her to qualify as a patient to take the place of the one they lost. And indeed, upon retesting Adele, she gets a twenty-three. She’s added to the trial and Meredith takes it upon herself to check the envelopes with the trial medication to see whether or not Adele is going to receive the real deal or the placebo. Of course Adele is the recipient of a placebo which Meredith switches for the real deal. It’s as if she feels guilty for her mother’s affair with Webber, especially after Adele calls her Ellis and asks her to leave her husband alone. I think that she feels guilty for the pain that her mother caused and wants to make it right if only for her own peace of mind.
Owen – who’s in charge of naming the next chief resident – asks Alex what his plan is, because everyone else is trying to impress Owen with something to get the position except for Alex. And big mouth Karev wouldn’t be who he is if he didn’t pull an idea out of his ass right on the spot. He uses Arizona’s idea of helping African kids by telling Owen that he’s trying to get a group of kids to SGMW to give them the surgeries they need. Owen doesn’t really believe him but Alex works relentlessly over the next few weeks to get everything in order but doing something like this needs huge amounts of money, even if the doctors work for free. Alex begs one of their rich dying patients for funding but before the woman can sign a cheque, she dies and Alex is left with a pile of bills. He’s too proud and stubborn to admit that he can’t do it and he continues to work on his plan. When Lexie finds out how bad the situation is she tries to help him but there is only so much you can do in a situation like this and when she tries to hand Alex a letter from a lawyer on the day the kids are arriving he almost freaks out. Luckily for him it turns out that the woman, as bitchy as she was, did listen to his story even before she died and she wrote a check for $200,000. The kids can get their much needed operations and Karev is saved as well.
I hope that everyone is ready for next weeks episode! Let the pre-wedding jitters begin because next week it’s time for the big Calzona wedding, in which we’ll finally be introduced to Arizona’s parents and Callie’s mom. I am so looking forward to that episode! It’s the biggest event of the year, at least in Shondaland it is!
Next Week: White Wedding

I really love this show I have been following it since the beginning. I’m very happy that Callie recovered like she did and that the baby was alright. I cried when she got hurt it was so awful. But I can’t wait for the next one about the wedding. I’m really excited to see what happens next.
