We’re down to the Final Six. Again. After last week’s non-elimination leg, the teams head off to Switzerland via Liechtenstein with both a Speed Bump (for Mallory and Gary) and a Double U-Turn looming. And with that, I give you…

The Top 6 Things I Learned From The Amazing Race

1. Zev and Justin: A pot of cheese can kill a grown man. Some Detours are obviously not good. Especially if there was a food Detour on the last leg that NO ONE was able to finish. I guess Z&J don’t learn. This time around, the teams had to choose between Cheese (finishing off an entire meal of cheese fondue) or Wheeze (delivering 20 pieces of luggage to 5 different hotels). Z&J chose Cheese and found themselves throwing up on the balcony of a quaint little Swiss chateau. That is classy. Zev pushed Justin through, and they actually finished the task. They got to the Pit Stop (the Moos Restaurant) in first place again, winning a trip for two to the Caribbean (although a lifetime supple of cheese would have been funnier).

2. Kisha and Jen: If you must drive a moped and navigate, keep the map in your bra. For the Road Block, Team members had to navigate the entire length of the tiny country of Luxembourg on a little motorized bicycle that sounded like a hair dryer. Only 22 kilometers, the ride wasn’t very long, but some people got lost. Jen’s map flew out of her coat pocket about half way through the country and it looked as if she may be totally screwed. Luck was on her side when she met up with Justin who was willing to let her tag along. The sisters got to the Pit Stop in second place.

3. Kent and Vixsyn: Never check your bags… only take a carry-on. On the Detour, Team Goth chose Wheeze and once again, I was angry with Kent. I’ve aired my grievances with him in the Recap and Review from last week, but I’ll say it again: He is a wimp that does nothing. Vixyn totally carries that team. When they were delivering the luggage, she was the one who pulled the cart. When they were heading back to check in, she again pulled the cart with Kent IN IT. Really? They got to the Pit Stop in third place.

4. Gary and Mallory: You DO use the things you learned in Freshman math class in real life! For their Speed Bump, G&M had to make the proper mixture of gas and oil for their motorized bike used in the Road Block. After a bit of head scratching and remembering of measurement conversions, they got it. Things all fell into place from then on. Flight Time helped Gary out on the Detour, they breezed through the Wheeze Detour with the help of a map from one of the hotels with all the other hotels circled on it, and they got to the Pit Stop in fourth place. Thank goodness.

5. Flight Time and Big Easy: FT&BE chose Wheeze and a couple of little mistakes (losing some claim tickets and delivering luggage to the wrong hotel) cost them valuable time. They knew the Cowboys were breathing down their necks, so at the Double U-Turn, they put the final nail in the Cowboys coffin. I’ve never been a fan of the U-Turn, myself, and I always hate it when it is used, but I can understand why the Globetrotters used it this time around. It was either them or the Cowboys. They got to Phil in fifth place.

6. Jet and Cord: The cowboys had a hard time out of the gate this leg. The Road Block had to be done twice, then they were Double U-Turned by the Globetrotters and had to do both branches of the Detour. But they took it in stride, actually finishing the fondue (I would have called Phil and asked him to bring the Pit Stop to me). They arrived last and were eliminated from the race. So long, dear Cowboys. I’ve enjoyed you very much.

Next week the teams head up the Matterhorn where there are frozen digits, some Swiss chocolate, and a brawl between the Globetrotters and the Goths!

So what did YOU think? who is in the mood for some cheese fondue? (Not me!) Were you happy or angry with the elimination? Would YOU use a U-turn? Who would you like to see win? Leave your TwoCents in the comment below! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter! @RachParkBishTTC

  1. Farrah says:

In an interview, The Cowboys said they didn’t eat all the fondue and were just given the clue. Thank goodness.

The u-turn was unnecessary. Disappointed in the Globetrotters for doing it.

What is with Kent being such a whiny wimp this season?

Zev and Justin rock my socks.

The Globetrotters didn’t know what was next. They opened the clue after doing the U-Turn. The clue could’ve been “Drive yourselves to Zurich and get to such-and-such for the Pit Stop.”

I don’t like the U-Turn but using it isn’t a moral failing or doing something wrong or unforgivable. It’s a legitimate part of the game.

It seems like a chicken-egg dilemma but Vyxsin has been horrible this season and horrible to Kent, too. It could be a reaction to Kent, a cause of Kent’s behavior, or both. Last episode, she was doing everything that she accused Kent of doing. Kent is pretty passive-aggressive (among other things) but Vyxsin is both passive-aggressive and aggressive-aggressive.

  2. Charles says:

I also thought Phil should have teased Zev and Justin by saying they won a lifetime supply of cheese fondue. It would have been hilarious!

I don’t like it when teams cheat. I think they should play based on their own merits and success. Giving others the answers is not fair and should be prohibited. If they do it, penalize them.

  3. Q says:

    I’d like Gary/Mallory or Zev/Justin or Jen/Kisha to win
