It’s all about loyalty this week on Desperate Housewives. Loyalty to friends, to spouses, and even to enemies.
Let’s pick up where we left off last week: Susan continues her remarkably speedy recovery from transplant surgery. Carlos is still furious with Bree and Lynette is still being a lousy wife.
Susan is having creepy sex dreams about Paul Young. Seriously creepy – downright disturbing, even. This is partly due to the six week abstinence she’s required to follow after her surgery. She asks her doctor if this is normal, and the doc thinks she is feeling bad for Paul because he’s been looking pretty ragged. Susan wants to try to help since he gave her a kidney and all, but Mike forbids her from talking to him. She does it anyway and even makes Paul some soup. What happened to her being a lousy cook? Mike sees her at Paul’s house, but since he’s so desperate for sex, he forgives her and makes her a romantic dinner.
Tom has been invited to some fancy business seminar and Lynette has been invited as his plus-one. Unfortunately for her, that means she spends her time flower arranging and drinking cocktails instead of attending interesting seminars. Since it’s all about her, she freaks and steals a pass from another business woman to hear the keynote speaker, except (and raise your hand if you saw this coming a mile away) that woman was supposed to introduce the speaker. Lynette makes a speech, mortifies herself and Tom and flees. Renee lectures her about now being just the “wife” if she wants Tom to be successful. I bet she’s regretting more and more manipulating Tom into taking that job.
Carlos has forbidden Gaby from seeing Bree, but that doesn’t stop her from sneaking around behind his back and having clandestine meetings for coffee and pineapple upside down cake. Upon finding a piece of the cake, Carlos demands Gaby make another one exactly like it. Using a concealed earpiece Bree walks Gaby through making the cake, but it still comes out a flop. Carlos is none the wiser though when the cake is covertly switched out while he isn’t looking. He still discovers that Gaby is off for a spa weekend with Bree and forces her to choose. I guess Gaby’s loyalty lies with Bree because she’s moving in, with Juanita and Celia in tow.
The sadly underused Mrs. McCluskey has a secret of her own. She was a witness to Felicia’s deception. She saw her the night she cut off her fingers to frame Paul for her murder. She has kept this secret all these years. Felicia tells her that Beth was her daughter, and she exaggerates some of the details of Beth and Paul’s relationship. She works Mrs. McCluskey over pretty well and now Karen has agreed to spy on Paul and may end up becoming a party to whatever revenge Felicia has been planning for Paul.
More secret and more lies, and yet not a one of them remotely interesting. The Scavos used to be my favorite family on this show and now I can’t stand them. Lynette continues to make a fool of herself week after week and she’s becoming a seriously unlikeable character. The stuff between Gaby and Bree was cute, but they overplayed it a bit. According to next week’s previews, Felicia will begin exacting her revenge on Paul, but really, I could care less. It’s just not that interesting. Your thoughts? Leave me your two cents!

My thoughts: Two more years of this show? OMG NO PLEASE NO.
I cringe at the thought.
Great review. I can’t stand Lynettte, when will there be some drama with the Scavo’s? How much longer will her character walk around with Tom’s balls in her purse? So unrealistic. Most people would be divorced by now if they had a spouse who treated them that way (belittling). I can’t stand her character and will be removing the show from my DVR after this season if things don’t improve these last 2 episodes. SO BORING.
SUSAN-Yawn!!!!!!! Teri Hatcher needs to lock it up. Boooooooooring!!!!!!!!
