Remember back when Walternate stole a blood sample from Henry (the baby, not the cabbie)? Well, Brandon has been able to analyze Henry’s DNA profile, identify Fauxlivia’s chromosomes and strip them out. Now they have half of Peter’s chromosomes, but that is enough to start the Doomsday Machine on our side. Brandon is all proud and stuff, but Walterante knows they will be killing billions. “I am become Death.”
Meanwhile, the signs of the Apocalypse are going down Over Here. Swarms of locusts, sheep acting all weird, mini earthquakes, bats, Walter walking around naked, etc. Sam Weiss (bowling alley owner whom I don’t trust 100%) notices some weird juju happening, too. A while back he had told Nina that if Peter and Olivia were together, the end of the world (at the hands of Walternate) wouldn’t happen. So why is this strangeness going on? When Sam is worried, I am worried.
At 6:02 in the morning, it all hits the fan. Fringe Division is called in to investigate the damage done by a vortex (interrupting what I think may be the last peaceful morning in bed for Olivia and Peter in a long while), but that’s not worst of it. At 6:02 the Doomsday Machine turned on by itself. Not good. Peter is the only one the machine has responded to, but it turned on while he was 200 miles away. Walter theorizes that Walternate himself figured out how to turn the machine on from Over There. But how to stop it?
Speaking of Over There, Fauxlivia gets called in for a massive Fringe Event at Liberty Island. Walternate tells FD to stand down, but Olivia figures it out: Mr. Secretary has gone and turned on the “weapon.” She is not cool with that at all because she knows how many people will die (Peter being one of them). She confronts Walternate who tells her (under a cool map up the US sans California, I might add) that he chose to give up his son so she could keeps hers and that there is nothing she can do.
Over Here, Olivia heads to Massive Dynamic to assist Nina in tracking Fringe Events (like how she learned when she was Over There). At MD, Nina tells Olivia that Bowling Alley Sam was the one who wrote the First People books and that he may be able to help now. Now Olivia just has to find him… but he doesn’t really ant to be found.
Fauxlivia decides that she really should do something about the extermination of an entire universe. She leaves Henry with Lincoln and sneaks into Brandon’s lab at Liberty Island. She forces him to assist her in crossing over so she can bring Peter back to stop Walternate. Her plan is foiled and she ends up in the same cell Olivia was in when she was captured. Walternate is “disappointed” but won’t press charges. He decides to keep her in the cell until the event is over.
Peter has an idea. If he is the person who can turn the machine on, perhaps he can turn it off. Peter heads to the warehouse holding the Doomsday Machine with a very concerned Walter (and Astrid and Broyles). After some awkward goodbyes and good lucks, Peter steps up to the machine… and is electrocuted and thrown 20 feet. The machine is not liking Peter anymore. He has a major concussion and the paramedics are unable to wake him up. Olivia arrives just in time for Sam to show up and tell her “trust me.” Off the run to save the world.
What do YOU think? I thought the time Walter spent in the chapel was quite interesting. I mean, he prayed for the world to survive, not Peter. And what about the possibility that Amber might be used Over Here? And do you trust Sam? Give us your Two Cents in the comment section below! Next Week: The Last Sam Weiss

John Noble had me in tears at one point. Great episode!
Amen, sister!
It was a great episode. I love the idea of Fauxlivia not wanting to let an entire universe be wiped out. I thought it was surprising twist that Peter couldn’t do anything with the machine.
I do think they blew the title. Seems like it’s 6:02 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) 🙂
Awesome review! I just want to comment that I think that Brandon understands what he is doing just as much as Walternate does. He knows that he is destroying an entire universe and consequently millions of lives, but that doesn’t seem to bother him. He really is twisted on so many levels; I can’t stand that Brandon.
