Greetings alumni of humor. I have been given the pleasure of recapping Community, and it’s time to get giddy with it. Pardon me; I’m a little excited to be doing this.

It’s been quite a year at Greendale with many highs and lows. What? You don’t remember all that happened this year? Well, let the study group refresh you on all the details before the get to the final

The gang is finalizing their last Anthropology diorama, when Troy sees Annie’s Boobs (darn right I identified the monkey by his name) take the paintbrush and escape into the vents. A Vaselined Chang, at his delightfully creepy best, volunteers for the retrieval mission.

Eventually, he comes upon the monkey’s stash of Greendale trinkets and returns the stockpile to the study group. As the group digs through the treasures, they start to recollect the times they enjoyed this year.

Remember the time they visited the ghost town or subbed in for the newly deceased glee club? No? Really? And that’s the brilliance of a Community episode. Yes, this is going to be one of those clip show episodes; however, most if not all of the clips are new to us. It’s like there are lost episodes of the shows out there. Wait, are there? Nevermind, I’ll look later.

Jeff asks Abed for some of the best memories they had, but only recalls Britta and Jeff are having secret sex. He presents the evidence of hook-ups: the Halloween episode, the Christmas episode and of course, the “lost” St. Patrick’s Day episode. With this, it’s concluded that Britta and Jeff have ruined the group, but Jeff counters the others do. Of this set of clips, I have a four way tie for funniest: Britta using Annie’s lip balm, Pierce crowing to steal Abed’s food, Troy’s solution to raft faster and Abed’s The Cape practice.

Through slow-motion, we relive the possible sexual tension between Annie and Jeff (and Pierce and Abed?), then review the many costumes and school announcements from the dean. This all culminates into a grand argument. They try to stop but Troy wants to get it all done with. Unfortunately, Abed quickly reminds (of course through clips) that these fights are a constant in the group dynamic.

Upon this realization, they decide to calmly finish the diorama and head home, but not before Jeff gives the group his closing monologue montage. The end… wait, we forgot Chang’s fondest memories. Oh, it’s only of the monkey whacking him in the vent.

What won’t Ken do to get a laugh? The man is comic gold for the show and a better utilized Chang makes a happier MjL. That and I want them to release the St. Patrick’s Day episode before any more Megadean vignettes.

First question, do you know the vents like the back of your Chang? If so, then is that a new stereotype? Finally, what were your favorite clips and could you identify which were old ones? Let me know.

A fantastic episode. The best clip show in the history of TV 🙂

I wasn’t positive there were any previously used clips.

Every time I think I can’t love Community more, they make episodes like this. I think the Troy raft line was one of my all-time faves.
At first I thought I may have missed seeing some pertinent episodes this season, but quickly realized they were goofing on themselves and making up ‘flashbacks’. I ♥ them so much!

Awesome recap – thanks so much for taking over for me (stupid evil busy schedule of business)! Community is such a good show and it deserves to receive its due on TTC! Can’t wait to read more of your R&Rs!

I am the one that needs to thank you. This is one of my favorites to watch. I always hit this one before Big Bang on Thursdays.
