Well, I don’t even know where to begin with this review of “Bones” because in reality it was not really a Bones episode.

We were introduced to a crossover of Finder, a new Hart Hanson show. It is Booth that knows Walter, played by new guy Geoff Stults, from his military days. Booth explains that Walt has this freaky ability to find anything. Bones is a bit skeptical but he will end up proving just how good he really is.

We are introduced to our new characters when Booth and Bones walk into a bar and we see the three new main characters, Walter, Leo (Michael Clarke Duncan) and Ike (Saffron Brurrows). According to a Hart Hanson interview, Leo was originally suppose to be an old, skinny white man. Um…I think we missed that target just a little bit. But Duncan is perfect as Walter’s “legal advisor”. In other words, he is his bodyguard of sorts.

In one of the conversations, we learn that Leo and Ike owe Walter their lives. But there is no follow up as to how. I guess we need to watch. I do believe they used the old tactic of “let’s get the shirt off the new guy and show how hot he is” so that the gals will want to tune in and swoon over the new hunk. This tactic was used early in the show and I really don’t think it was too sexy to see this guy on the toilet having a conversation with Ike, and then with Bones.

I, for one, was missing the Squints. There were just a few scenes with them, and this just bummed me out. I guess I just thought that this was going to be more of a Bones episode with a little bit of an intro to the new guy on the block.

The surprise and tender moment of the show came when Walter gives Temp the medal that she lost when she was young. She mentioned it when she was introduced to him. He also gave her the old newspaper clipping of a picture of her and her mom when she was 11 yrs old.

For all the Twitter followers of Hart Hanson I am sure you giggled a bit at the air tank with Hart’s avi face on it. I know I did.

One thing we learn about Walter is that he has some kind of brain damage and it makes him a bit paranoid about things and it drives Ike crazy. But he is afraid that if he seeks help about it, he will lose his finding-mojo.

In the end, Bones explains that maybe Booth shouldn’t be mad at Walter. You see, Booth hated Walter because when Booth went AWOL to be at the birth of his son, it was Walt that handcuffed and arrested him. But Bones explained that Walt waited, until Booth held his son, to arrest him. He actually wanted Booth to be able to hold his child before having to do his job.

Well that’s about all I have for you. Did you like the show? I was a bit bored with it. Will you tune in to Finder, when/if it airs?

    Finders feels like a bit of a copy of Burn Notice.

    * Guy with military background
    * woman with foreign accent
    * older third guy
    * in Miami
    * doing jobs for people who need help

    Sure, it’s not exactly the same but it felt really similar.

      I, too, caught the Burn Notice Redux vibe. Don’t really like Burn Notice – too-pretty people posing a lot – and will give this one a miss, too.

    I will probably give The Finder a try when they run it separately, but I mainly agree that there wasn’t enough Bones in it for my taste.

    I thought the woman playing Ike was a terrible actress, and the premise of the show is kind of like Burn Notice mixed with The Mentalist. Hart Hanson hasn’t done a good job on Bones in recent years and it doesn’t look like The Finder (terrible name btw) will be much better…Will be giving this a miss if it becomes a series.

    Well, I’m glad to see it wasn’t just me that wasn’t thrilled w this new show. At least the next ep will have our Squints back.

    I actually really enjoyed the episode. I found Walter’s character very amusing. I also liked the change of scenery from dreary D.C. to sunny Florida! wonderful. I also enjoyed Walter’s “friends”. His legal adviser Leo had great “quotes”, was that a poetry book he was reading? & Ike’s accent is great, I enjoyed her spunk as well! all in all I liked it. Esp the beautiful ocean scenes.
