This show has always had the best actors, but now it has the best toys. I so want that talking lion that attaches to a phone. It’s been buzzed about all day on the internet and it’s now on my birthday list!
While a lot of good things happened during this episode, it really worked as a countdown to when Alicia will find out about Kalinda and Peter’s little extramarital peekaboo. Tick, tick, tick….boom?
This week’s case brings the return of two characters – Jonas Stern, the original partner and attorney Louis Canning (AKA Michael J. Fox). Will and Alicia are bringing a class action suit against GoView, an internet company that’s basically torturing employees to the point that three have committed suicide. Stern is representing the company, but then he croaks. Turns out Canning has bought Stern’s practice, so he’s around for a while (he also offers Alicia a partnership and a salary double what she’s making, but she turns him down).
There’s a little cat and mouse, but when Kalinda digs up a memo that proves the company was raiding the pension fund and making the employees quit by treating them badly, it’s a done deal. Best part was Denis O’Hare’s Judge “good feelings” Abernathy.
There’s a small bit about Will’s girlfriend deciding to take a job in London, but it’s obvious that she’s playing him to get him to tell her to stay. Hasn’t she already done this before, but using a date with another guy? Yawn. But it does lead to an interesting discussion between Alicia and Will agreeing they aren’t pursuing each other right now. Hmmm…
The real story is Kalinda’s Kountdown. Glenn Childs is wondering why two pages of a report are missing and we know it’s the pages about Kalinda and Peter. Cary is still trying to cover up for her, but it’s starting to put his career at risk. And a reporter has a lead on the story as well (thanks to Blake?) and Eli has no choice but to ask Alicia to talk to the reporter.
See, Peter is three points up with the election in a few days. If the DCC didn’t ruin his chance with a last minute attack on Wendy Scott Card. So Alicia agrees, but it’s Eli who can’t keep his cool when she’s asked if she had an AIDS test. Good for you Eli! A little humanity never hurt anyone, except in politics, of course.
Is Will really so effected by Stern’s death that he’s thinking long-term with his girlfriend? Will Cary ruin his career over Kalinda? Can Eli keep the truth from Alicia (yeah, that one’s a trick question)? Give us your TwoCents…
