Welcome back to the latest Degrassi. This week we have possible illness, a runaway, and… a pogo stick. Yes, you read that correctly.
I often railed on the vast difference between the three stories in quality, but this week it’s the equivalent of watching and Oscar winning film and a National Lampoon film. See if you agree…
Story#1: Holly J is feeling run down. Basically everyone around her is telling her that she’s overdoing it, from Sav to Chantay. The only person who doesn’t see that Holly J is sick seems to be the politician she and Chantay are doing a work study for; she keeps pushing Holly J to work harder. Holly J is intermittently wobbly on her feet, nauseous, and exhausted. She (thankfully) rules out pregnancy, but we’re left wondering what is really wrong with her.
Verdict: This is clearly a set-up for next week’s more dramatic conclusion, but we do get some symptoms. Based on her calling out her thirst and exhaustion, I’m guessing diabetes. Although I’m not sure how the cough fits into that equation… Perhaps it is strep throat and will somehow manifest into pneumonia? I do admit that I am curious to see how it plays out. Do you think it’ll just be that she’s overdoing it? Mad props to Sav for still taking the time to notice she’s ill even though he’s dealing with the whole Alli mess.
Story#2: Alli is still missing. Her family is still worried, but the police are of no help. On a hunch, Sav visits a clean shaven Johnny DiMarco at university to see if he’s seen her. He says no, but as soon as he shuts the door we see Alli is sitting on his bed. He’s upset that she told him she was kicked out when she really ran away, but once Alli lists off everything her parents are mad about, he feels guilty for his role in her actions. He tries to talk to her about how bad things were at his house when J.T. was murdered, but that things got better. Alli isn’t hearing it though and decides she’s going to take off for Vancouver to find work as a nanny. Johnny holds her at bay by getting his friend Kayla to talk up university (and provide a disguise for Alli’s travels). Alli is starting to soften, but once she realizes Johnny has just been placating her, she takes off.
Verdict: This season has been very Alli-intensive. It’s finally getting to a (pun-intended) boiling point of sorts, I suppose. I’m wondering what the final outcome will be… she returns home and hugs her parents who vow to understand her better? I don’t have a crystal ball, but I hope there’s a little more intensity and consequences coming.
Story#3: The students dig up a time capsule that has letters they wrote to themselves back in grade seven. Wesley is bummed that he hasn’t become as cool as he hoped. Why he hasn’t even broken a world record! So, after talking to Uncle Mike, he opts to break the record for most pogo stick jumps in twenty-four hours. He hesitates when he thinks he’s not up to it, but Dave announces his goal to the entire school.
Verdict: Yes, a pogo stick. I realize that Wesley isn’t given the heavy-lifting stories, but seriously… a pogo stick. Aren’t we all just on the edge of our seats waiting for the resolution to this story, eh?
Well, those are my TwoCents on this week’s Degrassi! Share your TwoCents, feedback, and comments below! And join us next week to see what happens!

HollyJ: I think it’s Diabetes too. But they can twist it up and have an outbreak of something and she got it from Declan (a la Emma and the ravine days..). She wouldn’t know because he’s not around. The cough can be because she’s thirsty. You know when your throat gets dry it tickles and you cough? Maybe? But they haven’t tackled Diabetes yet and that was my first thought (they couldn’t have 2 pregger girls at once).
Alli: LOVEDDDDDD that Johnny was back. I loved that he was trying to take care of her but he should have just called Sav. I do like the new and improved Johnny though.
Wes: Bizarre storyline and copied from Disney (Jackson on Hannah Montana did it). Why do I know this? UGH.
