A blackout occurs during a snowstorm and leaves us with two major storylines to follow. Of course neither one is about the case. We have Booth and Bones stuck in an elevator with Sweets trying to help on the outside. We also have Angela and Jack worrying about the health of the baby.

Let’s get started shall we? I have to say…this is one of my favorite episodes….I really enjoyed it! Let me also point out just how much I loved Cam’s new hairdo!

Angela & Jack: A snowstorm hits and Angela arrives to work not looking at ease at all! Jack picks up on this and they go to talk. We find out there is a good chance that the baby could get the disease, LCA (Leber Congenital Amarosis ),an inherited retinal degenerative disease characterized by severe loss of vision at birth. Angela is a carrier and they need to wait to see if Jack is a carrier also.

Jack later finds out he is a carrier and now the odds are 25% chance the baby could have the disease. Jack has a great emotional scene with Wendell as he explains his concern to him. Jack fears Angela would hate him for also being a carrier, but Wendell assures him that Angela will not hate him. This is one of the best scenes of the night. When Angela comes into the room and sees the look on Jacks face, you just want to scream “NO” because you want them to have the most perfect baby in the world. She loves him and all is ok, and soon SHE is the one telling Jack that everything will be ok and that they can handle ANYTHING…as long as they are together! Awesome!

Booth & Bones: So we start out with Sweets trying to do his thang, by talking to B & B about sharing their feelings…blah, blah, blah. Doesn’t he know that they just are not going to do that with him? Anyways, Booth sees across the street a guy putting some stadium seats out to the curb. Booth gets all excited because they are from Veteran Stadium. He bamboozles Sweets and Bones to help carry a row of seats to his apartment building. This is where the trouble begins. As soon as it is loaded into the open caged elevator, the power is out and they are stuck inside and Sweets on the outside.

At one point Bones is on top of the seats trying to get the top off of the elevator but it falls on the inside and the seats are in the way. Soon Bones falls on top of Booth and he injures his back. Sweets tries again to get these two love birds to sing to him. He fumbles with the words of how to get them to talk, when Booth blurts out:” Stop shrinkin around the bush, tell us what you want”, I laughed pretty good at this one. After, Sweets tells them to talk about Hannah, Booth gets so mad at this point he throws the bag of peas at him and I think he hurt Sweets feelings. I would too, how dare he bring up ‘she who shall not be named!’

But soon we have Boothy and Bonsey actually talking about how they feel. Booth explains that the seats mean a lot because of a game he went to with his dad and it was a perfect day in his memory. They agree that they need to discuss the “us” factor but just not right now. But we didn’t need to wait long before they did talk …well actually Bones did all the talking…about how good sex would be between them. That’s it Bonsey, just tell it like it is! They agree it would be fabulous, and there is a definite aura of these two being turned on at this moment. But they agree it would never work as a couple thing. So I guess what they are saying is let’s just do the friends with benefits thing? Ha! All this and Sweets is not around. Love it!

In the end, they are sitting in Booth’s apt and he tells her that he needs some time. She tells him that she is improving and becoming a stronger person, doesn’t want to be impervious, so they can be together. I think we are actually getting to where we want them to be…slowly..but getting there.

Some great moments of the episode:
– Wendell taking an X-Ray of a bone with scotch tape and static electric current. Bill Nye the Science guy would be proud! Please don’t ask me to explain how it works.
– Hodgins climbing a ladder to tap into the emergency lights for electricity, he gets zapped and his safety line swings him into Wendell and a large beaker full of blue dye and soon we have Wendell as the newest member of Blue Man Group.
– Wendell and jack making electricity with potatoes and scrambling to find more as Angela yells for more electricity!
– Sweets coming out each time wearing the clothes of the neighbor’s deceased husband.

Ok, so what did you think? Did you like the episode? Worried about the baby? Do you like the progression of B & B?
We have to wait 3 weeks for our next 7 episodes to start, so I hope to see you then.

  1. Great episode! My daughter has Lebers Congenital Amaurosis and it is very rare. Only about 3000 people in the USA have it. Did this diagnosis come out of the blue, or was it a source of topic in previous episodes and I missed it. Just wondering where this story line came from since it is so rare. Anyway – it is a childhood eye disorder and it leaves all children blind either from birth, or usually by their late teens. It is devestating as parents – I knew exactly how they felt. BUT – it is really unusual for them to test for being a carrier unless there would be some family background. Most of us find out after our child is born, and in my daughters case – because she was not blind from birth – we didn’t find out until she was 3. So -it just strikes me as odd.

None the less- I am so glad to see LCA get some attention!!!

  2. Karen says:

Thank you for sharing the information! No, it was not talked about, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone affiliated w the show is connected somehow to the disease. They cover so many types of diseases on this show it’s hard to keep up.

  3. Vanda says:

I really think Cam looks much better with her old hairdo!

  4. Anne says:

    “Boothy and Bonesy”?!? Lol!!
