This episode of The Middle was different but in a good way. Sue has won a contest (how she accomplished that, nobody knows) and has won a trip to New York. The trip seems to come at a good time when the whole Heck family has a case of cabin fever.
Like I said, Sue wins this contest and it includes tickets and hotel rooms for four people to New York. From the beginning, you have a delima. You would think that because there is five of the Hecks, Frankie wouldn’t have a problem buying one ticket but she does. We all know that she is a penny pincher(nothing wrong with that) but actually contemplating sweet Brick!
Brick, by some miracle gets to come along with the rest of the family but it’s not a Heck vacation with out chaos. Their flight was around 8am and of course they all overslept! If you could call getting up at 6am oversleeping. So of course, the day starts off with everyone stuffing everything in a suitcase and running out the door. It gets even more hysterical at the airport. Frankie is trying her best not to check any bags so she stuffs everybodys cloths into one bag. The picture with this review explains it better than words. I think many of us can relate to the horror of paying 25 dollars or more to check a bag. Frankie ends up saving that 25 dollars after making everybody wear layers of clothing onto the plane. (Can you picture that?)
The show really gets good but kind of heartbreaking when we learn that in the panic, Frankie has forgotten the “snack bag” and to Bricks horror, he has forgotten his books at home! Brick basically goes into withdraw from books but he’s okay when he finds a newspaper on the plane.
Meanwhile, Axl’s seat is bumped up to first class and like the crazy family they are, they are taking turns in the first class seat! I felt so bad for the poor man who had to sit beside all of the Heck family except for Mike. By the way, this was Mikes first time flying and he was strapped to his seat the most of the time. Of course you can’t have a Heck family trip without some more craziness. When they get to New York, they can’t land because the airport is snowed in and after 2 hours of circling the airport, they divert to Pittsburgh.
After all of the trouble to get there, they arrive by charter bus in New York. They do manage to go to all of the monuments in the blizzard. In my opinion, it can’t be a family vacation unless something unexpected happens. Can you relate to the Heck family? I know I can which is bad for me because I am a control freak! Tell me what kinds of crazy things have happened on your family vacations. Give me your two cents.

Brick in first class with the Wall Street Journal was the best. He was the most mature in that seat. I loved it.
The best part to me was when Frankie was trying her best to shove her luggage through the scanner at the airport. So funny!
