Well, the first two days of Hollywood Week went by in a flash, didn’t they? It could be due to the one-hour timeframe instead of two hours. Or the fact that twice as many contestants made it to Hollywood — 327! (This is all your fault Simon for leaving and allowing the Nice Mice to take over.)
This round the singers once again got up in front of the judges and sang a cappella. Then they stood in a line to learn their fate. In the two days this took (those poor judges), half the hopefuls got the axe. So weak links like hyper-optimistic Victoria Huggins and her ego-overdrive were amazed to find out their California stay short-lived. Same goes for Miss Teen USA, Stormi Henley.
Mostly we saw the same people we’ve been seeing in the city auditions, all except one of my favorites, John Wayne Schulz.
Here’s a list of who made it:
Brett Loewenstern, massive red curls
Rachel Zavita of New York
Thia Megia and her big voice
Casey Abrams, blue extraordinaire and Seth Rogan lookalike
Lauren Alaina
Chris Medina, who sings for his brain-damaged fiancé
James Durbin, Asperger’s guy and Glambert wannabe
Paris Tassin, hearing impaired daughter
Jacee Badeaux, plump 15-year-old with an angelic voice
Robbie Rosen
Hollie Canvanagh, who almost didn’t get a ticket because she broke down in the audition (but didn’t in Hollywood, good for her)
Rob Bolin, former boyfriend of…
Chelsee Oaks (see above)
Jacquelyn Dunford, whose boyfriend Nick Fink didn’t stay (and who needs to learn about losing gracefully – he didn’t allow his squeeze to enjoy her big moment)
Scotty McCreery and his awesome deep country voice
Jackie Wilson
Jerome Bell, who we haven’t seen yet without a hat
Tiffany Rios, who acted quite bitchy – this from a girl who wore stars on her nipples for the first audition
Clint Jun Gamboa, DJ
Julie Zurrilla, formerly of Columbia
Molly DeWolf Swenson, the White House intern
Emily Anne Reed of the baby voice
Naima Adedapo
Aaron and Mark Gutierrez, charming brothers
Folks who got their boarding pass were:
Travis Orlando, the twin who lived in a shelter for a while
Steve Beghun, the accountant, who took the news with grace
Sarah Sellers
Jacqueline Dupree
The first belly dancer
Next week, Group Round, where everyone screams and cries. Was that little Jacee I saw with tears in his eyes? I will not tolerate that, let me tell you.
Did all your favorites get through? Aren’t you glad Nick Fink didn’t get through? Was there someone you were rooting for and they didn’t show? Give us your TwoCents…
