This episode of The Middle was so funny. The reason why I love The Middle is because the show is about a typical American family. We can all relate to the problems that the Heck family has.

The show starts out with a scene that most families go through. Brick is going through the phase where he can’t sleep and knock on Mike and Frankie’s door at 3am. At this point you think the kids are all innocent. Then Frankie comes in from work and say “I made dinner, come get your bag”. I thought that was so funny because literally they eat fast food for every meal. Frankie has also gone through all of the trouble by going to different fast food places for each kid. Basically the kids have become the bosses and Frankie doesn’t even realize it.

That night, Frankie has an aha moment as we all call it and decides to take back the house. The next day Frankie follows thought by cleaning up the house and telling the kids to put their stuff in their rooms or its going in the trash. This complete change in Frankie does Sue in. Sue of course, is doing one of her many failed activities and needs the poca dotted umbrella as seen in the picture above. Meanwhile, Brick is having a meltdown because he hasn’t been to the library in two days. I felt so bad for him(he just wants to go to the library!) Frankie send him to the computer and he is disappointed when there isn’t single ladies looking to date him in the area.

Axl, doesn’t know what to think about this whole thing and he thinks it will blow over but after a few days he, Sue, and Brick try to take back the house but fail. Frankie is loving this freedom and control that she has and decided to rub some off on her friends. She and Mike and two other couples go with them to a concert and they party like they are in college. The next morning they pay for that.

To tell you the truth, Frankie and Mike get tired of trying to keep the power and eventually they get Sue her poca dotted umbrella for her lunch time talent show and everybody slipped back into old habits. Just another typical American family.’

This episode was one of the funnier ones. Most families can relate to this sort of thing and I think that’s why the show is so popular. Do you relate to this family? Leave me a comment. Give me your two cents.

Thanks for the recap. I love this show! I could totally relate to this episode–I usually can relate anyway, but this one was a gem. My teenage son watched it live and said “mom if you dvr’d The Middle you have to watch it–Frankie is you!” So true–from the taking my youngest to the library after a long day at work, to the different fast food restaurants. But, the clincher was Frankie and Mike watching the little tv in the bedroom while the kids have the big tv and then Axl later finding Frankie watching “Say Yes to the Dress” (I’m secretly addicted to that show)on the big tv after “taking back the house.” I haven’t laughed that loud and long in a long time. This show just keeps getting better and better. This and “Raising Hope” have surpassed the NBC comedy block on Thursdays and Modern Family in being my favorites.

I totally agree! I think we can all relate to this! The Middle is so popular because everybody knows what it’s like. Modern Family is also another one that shows a family that has all kinds of problems like most American families!

Who was the band playing “Lonesome Loser”? This was a great show, I made my sister watch it because it totally is her!
