Tom Brokaw – Bridging The Divide

Tom Brokaw Presents- Bridging the Divide

Tonight, Friday Dec. 10, 2010 at 7pm on USA Network, Tom Brokaw will be hosting a one-hour special that looks to where our increasingly diverse country really stands on a range of civil rights issues. He will be covering racism, gay rights, access for people with disabilities, bullying among kids and discrimination towards immigrants in our country.

A poll finds that our country has a lot of anxiety and dissatisfaction with the direction of the country. A fair amount of this breaks down to racial lines. We learn that a vast majority of Americans feel there is far too much political division and disunity in this country. The people who have seen the broadcast are impressed and startled at the results.

As a whole our country gets a “C” on prejudice and discrimination. Polls show that the recession made Americans less accepting of each other in terms of racial/ethnic lines.
There will be several personal stories that I know are heartbreaking and important to see.

I hope everyone can tune in and watch this special and take steps to becoming a more tolerable country. I feel we are blessed to be living in this wonderful place and the freedoms that other countries only dream of. We need to unite and become more accepting of each other and show what a great nation we really are.
