It’s final four time, fans! So, with 98% confidence, I can most likely guarantee a non-elimination tonight (if the race sticks with tradition).

This week should be interesting when the teams head to Hong Kong. We know from the previews that Nick and Vicki get in a fight (or he just makes her cry), the girls dance and sing for some reason and you know that in Hong Kong there’s going to be an awesomely bad food challenge!

The Top Four Things I learned From The Amazing Race 17.

4. Jill and Thomas u-turned the wrong team. Kat can’t wait to get to Hong Kong, since she’s been there before, while Nat just wants to know if she’ll be taller than the people there. Nat does the sushi challenge (which was the most interesting food challenge yet – find the fake sushi amongst the real but if you touch it, you must eat it) and they go to the detour. Although Jill and Thomas get finished first, Nat and Kat get a cab before them and don’t allow their cabbie stop to help theirs. Getting the cab first helped and they hit the mat first, winning a trip for two to Rio. Guess Thomas is second-guessing that u-turn, eh?

3. Next time there’s a u-turn, think twice about your competition. Jill and Thomas totally lose their lead when everyone bunches up at the airport thanks to the late-night flight. Jill feels bad about u-turning the girls and barely says a word during the confrontation but Thomas … he could care less. Their reasoning is that Brook & Claire were good competition to which B&C reply “you should have taken out Nat and Kat then.” (So true!) They are seriously the luckiest pair in the history of the race. They get through the eating task with ease, but switch detours when the rail task is too complicated and still manage to finish the task first. Really? Where’s their karma? When they get to the mat second, I wonder if they thought that was their karma?

2. If you’re on a diet, stuff your face full of sushi. Brook and Claire confront Jill and Thomas at the airport about the U-Turn and don’t buy their excuse about u-turning them because they were the best competition. Claire does not have an easy time at the food challenge and we got to hear it all come back up. They do the boat task and since Nick and Vicki are so behind, they get to Phil third.

1. Yelling, scolding and making your girlfriend cry means you love her. Nick’s whole “she’s a blessing” breakdown doesn’t get to me one bit knowing how much he yells at her. When Vicki’s asthma kicks in and she can’t breathe, they miss the first ferry (which all other teams get on). When she apologizes sincerely – after he had yelled at her the entire time – he says “I’m sick of you being sorry.” WHAT?! Oh no he didn’t. It gets worse and I won’t give him any more time than I already have. Vicki gets violently ill at the sushi task and he offers to take a penalty and skip the task. Really? Are there two Nicks? Nope, he’s still Nick when he literally quits in the middle of the detour. If Vicki stops doing the detour, they will receive a six-hour penalty. Nick tells the boat driver to take him back and forces them to quit the detour. They get to Phi last while it’s raining. Of course, it’s a non-elimination leg and Nick looks so upset that they’re still in the race. Next leg, they’ll get a six-hour penalty AND a speed bump. Nick doesn’t say a word when they check in. But in their interview, Nick apologizes (as usual) and says he needs to be better to Vicki. UGH.

Next week: White water rafting, ice skating, the North Korean border and the final three are decided!

I put my money on Nick and Vicki going home next week (crossing my fingers). I also put my money on the first all-girl team to win Amazing Race this year. The remaining pairs left are good competitors and Thomas is a loose cannon. Two episodes left … What did YOU think! Who will be eliminated next? Who will win? Leave your two cents below!

Nick is the worst teammate since Flo. He might not be the worst person in the race during that time but definitely the worst teammate.

(Hong Kong actually is in China. 🙂 )

  2. farrah says:

Ok then I change my snarky response to “uh, Vicki, sushi is Japanese.” You get the drift. 🙂

  3. Patricia says:

I really, really hate Nick. Really.
