The cold open has the group watching a breaking news broadcast about the cops catching the Scranton Strangler. Gabe suggests they all get back to work but no one does. They are glued to the TV until the cops pass down the street in front of Dunder Mifflin’s building. Michael goes out to collect some of the loose asphalt so his grandchildren can sell it later to buy a spaceship.
Gabe and Erin are having a Glee viewing party at Gabe’s apartment. Everyone agrees to go and Kevin says they can’t not go to the boss’s party. Michael is miffed that everyone thinks Gabe’s the boss. Michael is clearly jealous of Gabe and his pizzas and fancy schmancy oven.
Michael and Gabe butt heads over the volume of the TV and Michael makes an ass of himself. As usual. Jim and Pam have Cece with them who has her days and nights backwards. Cece gets upset and Dwight manages to calm her. He is amazing with the baby. Color me surprised. He also suggests to Pam that she tie to suet to Cece’s toe by a string.
Andy gets into Gabe’s Asian powdered seahorse and gets a bit crazy and then throws up in the guest bed. He confesses to Phyllis that he still likes Erin and persuades Phyllis to find out if Gabe and Erin have had sex. Phyllis finds out nothing, but we did get to hear about Phyllis and Bob Vance and the first time they saw each other naked. Whoa.
Michael and Gabe get face to face and Michael storms out and cuts off the cable. Then when everyone is angry over missing Glee, Michael tries to play hero by turning the cable back on. Erin catches Michael and they go into some kind weird father/daughter roleplay. I have no idea what that was about.
Angela sees Dwight with the baby and wants him to meet her out by her car in two minutes. Pam begs him not to put the baby down because she’ll wake up. Dwight says he requires pizza and beer to stay. Pam and Dwight fall all over themselves to appease him. Dwight makes Jim feed him then tries to go to Angela. Pam makes him stay and says that she’ll go talk to Angela for Dwight. Angela is naked in the backseat of her car when Pam asks her to reschedule. Awkward.
Yeah, this was a weird episode. I get that Michael doesn’t like Gabe but where did this Erin sees Michael as a father figure thing come from? We really haven’t seen enough of Michael and Erin interacting to get to that conclusion so it feels a bit forced to me. Anyway, I thought the episode was just ok. No real laugh out loud bits but that’s been par for the course for this show for awhile now unfortunately. What did you think? Leave a comment, Gleeks.

I like this episode. It had shades of “E-mail Surveillance” which is one of my favorite episodes. I enjoy that Michael only wanted the cable back when he heard Puck and Finn made up and were going to do a duet together. HAHA! He wanted to see it so bad.
I enjoyed the pizza in the ceiling fan and agree with you – the Vance’s first naked experience is a conversation that made me want to get a q-tip to clean out my ears. 🙂
I have never watched even one moment of Glee so I thought he just wanted to be a hero and turn the cable back on to show up Gabe. Hmm.
