Pam is holding a lecture on stopping the spread of germs. Dwight has a problem with hand sanitizer saying that using it is coddling your immune system and making things worse. So Jim asks if they should all sneeze on Dwight to give him as many germs as possible. Dwight agrees and the next couple of shots show Erin running from reception to sneeze on Dwight and then Andy sneezing on Dwight’s sandwich. Grody.
Today is Cece’s christening and the office gang shows up unexpectedly. Michael invited them, of course. Michael wants to sit in the family pew because he believes he’s the godfather of the baby. Of course, he says it all in a bad imitation of Marlon Brando. Pam tells him that he’s not the godfather and the godparents are a couple from Pam’s mommy and me class. Michael is clearly hurt by that.
Dwight goes through a sales pitch right in the middle of the church service, of course. Right after that, Cece needs a diaper change. Jim takes diaper duty and Cece makes a mess all over her christening gown so Jim puts an old, too big t-shirt on her.
The priest announces that the “Halberts” have hosted a reception next door for everyone. Jim and Pam are having a party but only for an invited few so there is not enough to eat and everyone is ticked off, especially Stanley. Pam runs out to pick up some subs and Jim loses Cece. He believes Angela stole her out of jealousy but it turns out she just stole all the scones instead.
Incidentally, the youth group from the church is going on a mission to Mexico and look so happy that Michael wants to have that with the group. He walks out to where the youth group is getting on the bus to Mexico and gets on board himself. The office group tries to stop him from going but he refuses. Erin tells Michael she thinks it’s great what he’s doing so Andy hops aboard as well based on that. They get 45 minutes down the road and Michael and Andy start having second thoughts. They get the driver to stop the bus and they get off along with another kid who didn’t want to go either apparently. Erin comes to pick them up.
I’m not sure what I think of this episode. It’s pretty typical of the show this season so at least they’re being consistent. It just didn’t have any sparkle or any real laugh out loud moments. What did you think? Leave me a comment with your two cents.
