It’s that time of year when people find out what they’re afraid of… Yes, Halloween has once again come to Wisteria Lane. Halloween is about the fear of monsters and spiders and ghost and goblins. But on Wisteria Lane, they’re not afraid of ghosts. It’s the fear of losing a parent. Fear of losing their home or spouse. Fear of losing it all.

And of course, we have to start off with a story about sex…

Wifey-poo is still refusing to sleep with Paul – even with bribes of expensive jewelry. Good to know she can’t be bought. Paul takes Beth to counseling and the counselor’s suggestion is that they start dating so they can get to know each other better. They have lovely dates, but when he tries to kiss her, she slaps him (I wasn’t signaling you to try to jam your tongue down my throat.) so he tells her to be out of the house by the end of the week. She talks to “Mama” on the phone who tells her to work things out. Are we still thinking Mama is Felicia? Can you just call up someone who is in jail?

Susan breaks the news to Mike about her moonlighting job and the fact that Paul is blackmailing her. Susan takes a basket of muffins to Paul as a peace offering. She starts nitpicking things about the lease agreement and evicts him. Paul goes to Oakridge Academy’s haunted house and tells one of the staff about Susan’s sexy job. When she finds out it was Paul who got her fired, she takes MJ’s caveman club and tries to beat Paul with it. Beth pulls a gun on Susan and throws her out of the house. She then kisses Paul – creepy.

Mike takes the job in Alaska to make up for Susan getting fired.

Juanita is playing with Grace at her house and sees the necklace that Gaby gave Grace. She thinks she stole it so Juanita steals it back, but Gaby tells her that she gave it to Grace. Grace is going to be trick or treating with Juanita and Celia so Gaby makes Grace a beautiful princess costume and Juanita is jealous. When a neighbor thinks that Grace is Gaby’s daughter, Juanita gets more jealous. When Grace can’t get the tiara out of her hair, Juanita “helps” by cutting it out. Juanita accuses Gaby of loving Grace more than her. Carlos tells Gaby they need to spend less time with Grace because Juanita is getting suspicious. Gaby says no, they’re both our daughters. This is not going to end well.

Tom’s mom is getting more and more forgetful and agitated. When Lynette tries to talk to Tom about it, he thinks she’s just trying to get her out of the house. When Allison goes to get more candy during Trick or Treat and doesn’t come back, Tom goes off to look for her. He doesn’t see her sitting on the curb. The shot of her with her butterfly wings on looking so lost and distressed was absolutely heartbreaking. She ends up at Carlos’s house and when Lynette tries to take her home, Allison starts screaming that Lynette is making her feel crazy and then slaps her. Tom witnesses the whole thing. The look on his face is as equally heartbreaking. Tom is putting Allison in assisted living. This whole story was beautifully played by everyone involved.

Bree goes to Keith’s apartment for the first time and is impressed by how neat and clean it is. Impressed that is, until she meets Mimi, his roommate. She turns out to be not an issue, but the letter from the Department of Corrections causes some concern. Renee tells her that he assaulted a guy for hitting on his girlfriend the year before. When a guy starts hitting on Bree at Renee’s party, Keith gets a little violent again. He storms out of the party and tells Bree he understands if she wants to break up with him. She tells him about how Andrew found her face down drunk on the lawn. She says everyone has baggage and she can be with him if he can be with the biggest lush in Fairview. They kiss and make up.

Love Halloween episodes just for the costumes. Lynette looked awesome as a 20’s flapper. Even though we just got a quick glimpse, Carlos looked great as a cowboy/sheriff. Lee as Marilyn Monroe – scary! And a small bit of annoyance – we all know Keith is younger than Bree. Can we move on? How could he not know who Marilyn Monroe is? I’m 32 and I think he’s supposed to be older than me, and I know who she is.

Not a bad Halloween episode. Tom and Lynette’s moments were by far the best parts, which is good because they’ve had some lame stories so far this season. What did you think? Leave me your two cents!

I loved Lynette’s story – FINALLY. It was so real. I think we’ve all been there. And Tom, the son in denial with the hateful daughter-in-law by his side? It happens all the time. I wish we could’ve seen his brother and sister we heard of.

I found Paul’s wifey creepy with the gun. Why did she have it? Didn’t Paul wonder that?? And really, a virgin? Doubtful. Just part of the story. I was watching a really dumb movie and they “called” a prisoner, so maybe they can get calls? At certain times? Or maybe just on TV. 🙂

Gabby’s life is gonna get messy. As is Susan’s. Is Mike really going away? I hope we still get to see Lainie Kazan (?). I love her.

Don’t even get me started on the Bree/Keith thing. We get it. There’s a lot of issues. Build a bridge or break up.
