It’s more secrets and lies on Wisteria Lane with an added touch of blackmail and dementia.
We start off at a night club where a fellow Wisteria Lane housewife (guest star Dana Glover) has decided to put on a cabaret show. It’s going pretty well until Gaby and Renee bust through the door having one hell of a catfight. Why? Well, we have to flash back one week to find out.
Lynette is having trouble finding a nanny until Tom comes up with the perfect solution – his mom (Allison)! Lynette loves Mama Scavo but she doesn’t love what’s happening to the men in the house when she’s around. They’re turning into Neanderthals. (If my husband or my kid tapped their glass at me when it was empty I’d “tap” them upside the head). Lynette says some harsh things to Allison and hires someone else, but Tom puts his foot down and insists his mother stay. Lynette and Allison make up. There’s more to this story because Allison has been confusing Tom with his father and then she doesn’t recognize Penny.
To recoup the $9000 she lost last week, Susan agrees to do one-on-one sexy chats with the Va-Va-Va Broom clientele, but she can’t handle it, so Maxine fires her. Maxine reconsiders when a client starts offering big bucks to chat with Susan. She needs the money, so Susan agrees but gets the shock of her life when her fan is Paul Young. He was the one who pulled her poster out of the dumpster. He wants her house so he blackmails Susan – either he gets the house or he tells everyone about her new job.
Bree and Keith are having fun – a little too much fun. Keith is a bit oversexed and it’s starting to wear Bree out. She tries wearing Keith out by overworking him during the day, but even though he’s exhausted, he has a little energy left for Bree. She freaks and tells him that she’s too old to keep up with him. He reveals that he thinks he’s not smart enough for her so he thinks the only way to keep her interested in him is sex. She tells him that she loves how down to earth he is and likes how he sees the world differently. They kiss and make up and promptly get a good night’s sleep.
Renee’s divorce is final and she walks away with a cool $8 million. She wants to celebrate, but the only one available is Gaby. They start sharing secrets: Renee slept with her ex’s lawyer to get the big settlement. Gaby had a nose job when she was 19. They agree to never tell anyone else. When Doug shows up at Renee’s door wanting her back, Renee agrees and tells the girls. Gaby says he’s not good enough for her but Renee tells her to keep her fake nose out of it (in front of Bree and Lynette). Gaby tells her she will pay. When Renee and Doug show up together at the cabaret show, Gaby spills Renee’s secret to Doug who walks out. Renee and Gaby have a barroom brawl.
Doug calls Renee and says they’re even – they both cheated on each other so now they can forget about it. Renee decides that’s not good enough for her and she declares them over. She thanks Gaby for being the only one to tell her the truth about Doug. Gabs and Nee – BFFs.
Something very minor that I wanted to touch on was Gaby’s first scene. She came in talking about a phone call she just had with Grace. The girls don’t know about the switched at birth thing, so don’t they think it’s weird that this other woman is now suddenly a big part of their lives? It seems a bit strange to me. I would be suspicious if some strange woman started giving me presents and calling me on the phone when I never knew them before.
So Paul Young is still trying to buy every house in the neighborhood for some nefarious plan to pit the neighbors against each other. I have to no clue as to how that’s going to work out. Does anyone else have any ideas? I kind of missed seeing wifey-poo in this episode. She’s a little Stepford, but something else is going on there, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. What else did you think of this episode? Were you as disturbed by the Bree story as I was? It was a bit too raunchy for my taste. Leave me your two cents!

“The girls don’t know about the switched at birth thing, so don’t they think it’s weird that this other woman is now suddenly a big part of their lives?”
Well, the families have been spending a lot of time together, and Grace really likes Gabby and they have their “secrets” so she’s probably looking at her like an aunt. I think we’re only seeing a few of the visits, so I assume they’re meeting up more than we know about.
As for the the Paul Young storyline, I don’t know what is going on there. Maybe he wants to run everyone out of town? Owning everyone’s house won’t pit everyone against each other, except for who made more money off their house? I don’t get it.
I loved the Renee-Gabby interaction and wasn’t all thrilled with Bree-Keith, although it does seem they actually like each other. Lynette can never catch a break and now her MIL will probably have to stay with her and Tom will be in denial of her illness. Should be torture to watch.
Overall, an okay episode.
