Welcome back for another episode of America’s Next Top Model! We have nine girls left in the competition and everyone’s starting to get ready to “play the game”. Ann is getting more confident and actually feels pretty. She just needs work on her outer confidence. Chelsey is upset that she still hasn’t won anything yet.
Tyra Mail! Already? “Ding Dong! Love, Tyra!”
The girls hear the doorbell and find boxes of Cover Girl makeup kits. They get broken into three teams and have to do demos the next day. Here are the teams:
Team 1 – Ann, Kendal & Jane
Team 2 – Esther, Kayla & Kacey
Team 3 – Chris, Chelsey & Liz
They meet Nigel at Walmart and they must each do a demo in front of a crowd. The winning team will receive a Cover Girl shopping spree in Walmart. During the demos, Ann is very withdrawn and nervous. Chris completely overpowers her team and talks right over Chelsey. Kacey, Kayla & Esther do the best, by far, and win the challenge. After the shopping spree, they have to put on the makeup and whoever has the best look wins a prize. Nigel chooses Esther and she wins a $1000 Walmart gift card.
Back at the house, the girls get their next Tyra Mail, “Tomorrow will be no walk of shame, but rather a walk of fame. Love, Tyra.” They guess they’ll be in Hollywood. Ann is very concerned about working on her personality. She feels like she might have to rush it too much. I feel really bad for her, I know what it’s like to be awkward and different.
They arrive on Hollywood Blvd. and meet with Jay. They will be styled by famous Hollywood stylist Laurie Goldstein and photographed by fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The girls are very excited. They will be working in pairs and walking with the male models. There are nine girls, so Chris will be alone with a guy. The other pairs are:
Kayla & Esther, Kendal & Liz, Kacey & Jane and Chelsey & Ann.
Chelsey is not happy to be paired with Ann. Then she’s extra nervous around Patrick and Tyra shows up to watch, so Chelsey doesn’t do so well, she seemed to be holding back. Neither do Kacey, who fell flat, Liz, who isn’t noticeable and even Ann is a little stiff. But as usual, it’s the pictures that matter. Chris, Esther and Jane did the best. Kayla had a bad week because she hurt her foot in the shoes.
At panel, Tyra repeats the prizes for whoever missed them the last half-dozen times. Sheesh! All the girls each had a total of three pictures. The group picture, an individual movement picture and a beauty shot. Judging is done on the whole set of pictures. The judges can’t believe how great Ann’s picture is compared to her in person at the shoot and in front of them. Tyra even gets up to mock how awkward Ann was at the shoot. Here are my faves:

Best picture – ANN! (5 in a row! Woo!!) – she’s shocked! I’m stoked!!
Top two runner’s up – Jane & Kendal
Bottom two – Kayla & Kacey
The judges feel that Kacey isn’t ready yet. She gets eliminated and Tyra even tells her that she’s no match for the other girls left. I feel just a touch bad for Kacey, but I’m glad she’s gone. She needs more practice in both modeling and in life.
This was a good episode, but not the best. I’m proud of Ann, but I really hope she builds up her personality. Looks might get you in the door, but personality keeps you at the party. I’m rooting for her and for Kayla. They’re my girls!
