I’m certainly not complaining about the more lighthearted fare on Medium these days, but I’m a little concerned about the path we may be on. When are we going to get back to the roots of Allison’s gift and what she uses it for? We’ll see, in the mean time, Allison thinks she has been given a missive to match people up based on symbols she can see above their heads.
The little video game symbols seem to indicate who your soul mate is, so of course Allison rushes headlong into it. (and I’m having flashbacks to her visions of how many days someone has before they die when she was wearing those sunglasses).
Joe gets a woken up by Marie, who had a bad dream, “the kind where someone gets murdered.” Over breakfast, Marie tells about a story about a couple who are getting down and dirty in a hotel room, not getting murdered, which leads to some of the most awkward breakfast conversations ever.
Allison is at the crime scene, and sees the little symbols from her dream on the all the people. Interestingly, Lee has a little sun and Devalos has a moon (subtle indicator of something maybe?) Luckily Lee and Lynn both have suns. Then she sees the guy from her dream, and when Allison talks to him, he seems harmless enough. At work, Joe has to be the mean boss when two of his employees aren’t doing their job very well. One of them, a woman, says that her coworker has been harassing her sexually, and made her completely uncomfortable and impossible to work. When Joe confronts the guy, he blows it off and seems like kind of a schmuck.
At home, Allison is ecstatic that she and Joe have matching stars. Joe is kind of a wet blanket though and makes her go to the hospital for a check up. The doctor is from her dream, and matches the guy from the crime scene (who at this point I’m predicting is the murderer). That night, Allison has a dream about the murder. Back at the office, Joe’s problematic schmuck has made things worse, and now Joe has to suspend the guy, and the woman is suing the company.
Allison takes the doctor with the heart to lunch at the restaurant of the guy with the heart, and then they meet when they bump fenders, and end up going on a date. And then he strangles her. (Told you so). Then Lee calls and confirms that the good doctor is dead. But it seems that the heart guy’s prints don’t match the evidence the Allison led them to. Joe’s still dealing with the woman who’s suing, she has named Joe in the suit and is clearly just using the company to get money. She even grabs her own arm to make a mark, where Joe grabbed her, except that he never touched her. And then Marie says that the man and woman she’s been dreaming about it are the man and woman involved in the suit at Joe’s office.
Allison confronts the heart guy whom she still suspects, because it appears that the doctor only killed one gal, not all of them. Joe brings the engineers into his office, and confronts them. Joe basically calls them out for their lie for a fraudulent sexual harassment lawsuit. Go Joe!
Allison is still feeling guilty about the whole thing, because she only got the guy arrested for a week for unpaid parking tickets. Allison has a dream about another guy with a heart, and when she wakes up the doctor is visiting her. Telling her that the guy she just dreamt about is already arrested. The doc tells Allison why she murdered the girl in the park, and that Gil and the guy from the dream are cellmates and the restaurant heart guy (murderer?) is dead.
Wait? So did the (now dead) guy do it? Interesting twist on a fluffy story, don’t you think? I also love all the Joe time (hence the picture). Leave your TwoCents!
