It’s the first elimination episode of the season and because apparently one hour isn’t long enough to torture us before eliminating a couple in the last 60 seconds, we get two hours. Doesn’t ABC have anything else to air?
Tonight’s first hour was dedicated to replaying every single dance from last night with nothing new to offer except a few backstage comments from the celebrities about their performance. Not exactly earth shattering. The second hour finally got to the results show. So, did the elimination fairy grant my wish? Read on to find out.
Special guests this week were Santana and Daughtry who each performed individually and then did a duet together. India Arie was also on hand to sing while Santana rocked his serious guitar skills. I love him. He’s a god.
In what I think was a somewhat shocking first elimination, David Hasselhoff was sent home tonight. I’m not disappointed because I never want to see him gyrate again, but I really thought he would get the viewer votes to hang on for a little while. In all honesty, there are a few other dancers I would have really liked to have seen dance their last dance. There’s always next week.
What did you all think? Are any of you as surprised, or are you all glad to see The Hoff go home? Leave me your two cents!

I was pretty pleased to see the Hoff go. I’m not sure if I agree about it being shocking, since he’s become a bit of a joke, but I can definitely see how people might feel that way. I would have rather seen the Greaseball–er, the Situation–go, but that’s probably more because he grosses me out than because of the dance.
I was really glad to see Kyle and Cho stay, even if they wound up “in jeopardy”. Kyle was pretty awesome, and I thought Cho was funny, even if the song didn’t suit comedy, or the first dance not being the place for purposeful mistakes.
My early favorites are Brandy (I’m in love with Maks, it’s true, but she WAS good), Kyle, Rick, and Jennifer.
I agree,I’m okay with the Hoff going, but it was a toss up between him and the Situation with me. I am curious to see if Mike Sorrentino can actually do more than fist pump, which he relied too heavily on. I think that was also for comic effect, but fell really flat. Cho was funny, but I was really disappointed that she didn’t do a traditional dance, especially after such a great beginning. When she started, I was like “wow, she can move,” but then my heart sank.
Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one who wants to see Sorrentino go (I refuse to use the nickname – it’s just too stupid). I was just sure the Hoff would get some fan votes, but maybe he is too much of a joke anymore.
I also was impressed with Cho when the dance first started. With the Jive being next week I think she should have saved they comedy for that – it would have been much better suited. I’m sure she’ll still throw some in there, though. I just hope she doesn’t go too far.
