Chuck News: Linda Hamilton Cast as Chuck’s Mom

chuck's mom finally surfaces

Live Feed is reporting that it was announced at Comic-Con over the weekend that Terminator star Linda Hamilton will play the role of Mary Bartowski on Chuck, as the long-missing mother of the title character and his sister Ellie.

Hamilton will have a recurring role, and the mystery surrounding her character will be one the driving forces behind the next season. Her character will first be introduced in the season premiere on Sept. 20.

According to the show’s executive producer Josh Schwartz, the casting decision was based in part on fan suggestions.

“She’s been such an icon as an action-female badass mom,” Schwartz said. “The fans put it out there, and she heard about it, and was like, ‘I heard I’m Chuck’s mom.'”

In addition to Hamilton, Chuck will also see guest appearances by Olivia Munn, Isaiah Mustafa (from the Old Spice commercials), and Dolph Lundgren, as previously reported. Nicole Richie will also return as Sarah’s nemesis, Heather Chandler.

My Two Cents: Good to see them pay attention to what the fans wanted, and I think overall it’s a good casting decision.

Chuck fans, do you think it was a good choice to cast Linda Hamilton as Chuck’s mom?

  1. Heck yes! She is awesome and a great person to boot. I met her at a press screening and party for Showtime’s “A Girl Thing” miniseries in 2001 She must have chatted with me for close to 15 mins.

Her performance in a Girl thing was very good – quite emotional!

  2. Brittany says:

This is freaking amazing. Terminator 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. And how cool is it that both of Chuck’s parents were part of amazing sci-fi franchises?
