Ok, so here we are with the season finale and I ask you this question….did anyone realize that the title of this episode is very familiar to the finale of last season? Last season was “The End in the Beginning”. Just a little something that I thought I would throw at you. There are some major changes that happen in this episode that will set the stage for next season and I for one, am not sure where it is going, but I am excited for the change.
As the show opens, we learn of some remains that are found on the Maluku Islands that gets Bonesy all a twitter. She is very excited over this discovery, more so, than the discovery of a hoarder that fell through his floor to the apartment below.
So here are some of the key things that happen, now stay calm…it will be ok:
Daisy gets accepted to go to the Islands to participate on the dig. Clearly, Temp is a little jealous and didn’t realize that her letter of recommendation was for this particular dig. Daisy points out that she is surprised that Temp didn’t request to go.
Booth is approached by a soldier asking him to train men, because too many are dying in Afghanistan. He declines and tells him he already served his country.
Hodgins swears he sees Angela’s dad while working on the case. He is a bit scared…actually …quite scared!
Booth and Bones talk at the diner and she asks what the soldier wanted. He doesn’t want to give up his job with Bones. She is impressed that he is offered a higher title to Sgt. Major and tells him he could make a difference. Parker later tells his dad that he should go.
Temp tells Angela that she needs to view her life with some objectivity and needs time away from Booth. Personally, I think she is in love with him and just can’t tell him, even though she wants to.
Daisy spills the news that Temp is asked to head the dig and will be going too. They will be gone for 1 year. Daisy also notes that maybe Booth is holding Bones back just like she is holding him back.
Sweets is bummed out that Daisy chose this over him. So he feels the need to do something a little out of character and joins Hodgins who is asked by Daddy ZZ to steal his car back from some biker dudes that he lost it to in a card game.
When they get to the location and have no plan, there is some bumbling, but Hodgins gets to the car to find Daddy ZZ holding the keys and they zoom out of there…leaving Sweets. ZZ gives him the car, he is family you know!
Booth and Bones talk and decide to take the offers given them for 1 year.
Caroline is clearly upset of this.
Cam is going to miss Temp, and tells her she is irreplaceable.
So here is how it ends: Daisy and Sweets kind of break up, so that the other is free to date while they are separated. I have a feeling this is going to be for good.
Hodgins and Angela go to Paris for a year because they don’t want to be around to train a new anthropologist. Man, wish I could just get up and do that.
At the airport everyone says goodbye to Temp and Daisy…except Booth is not there. BUT…suddenly Bones sees him and they go to each other (love the look on everyone’s faces and they approach each other). Bones tells him NOT to be a hero and that they are to meet at the Reflecting Pool, coffee cart in 1 year to the day. Now this is where I thought for sure we would get a kiss…but no luck!
So what did you think? What do you think will happen in the 1 year’s time to everyone. Will Booth find someone else or maybe change completely? Will Cam still be dating the doctor friend? Maybe Angela will be Pregnant or even have a baby? What will Sweets do? Were you happy with the finale?
As for the case: here is where I caught that the case is like a parallel to the characters. The guy who died had so much baggage and fear that is cost him the love of his life. Just like Bones and her fears costing her the one man that truly loves her.

Great recap! It would’ve been nice if they at least hugged. Now that you mention the baggage and fear in the hoarder’s life, I can understand why no hugs or kisses…duh! I hope Booth and Bones realize the love they for each other. I think Angela and Hodgins may be so happy just themselves, they may not be back. Cam may also find the love of her life and complete her family. So then, her priority will be become her completed family. She loves her friends, but things will change. I think Booth and Bones will return and Bones will realize, with the “clutter” of her relationships cleared, will realize Booth is the love of her life. I think she will struggle to let Booth know her true feelings. Sweets deserves true love like
that too. I don’t want Daisy to be his soulmate. She has her own agenda.
I don’t think they’re going to all be gone for a year.. I think something is going to happen that brings Booth to the Maluku Islands or Brennan to Afghanistan, and they’re going to be working together in a different sort of way. They’ll realize that they both work best with the other as a partner and decide they need to stay together.
As to Sweets, I hope he finds someone who deserves him, and that they drop Daisy off a cliff somewhere. She was just waaaaayy too annoying. I’m in no hurry for Angela and Hodgins to have a baby – let them enjoy their time in Paris settling into their happily married life.
Regarding season finale, I was especially impressed with Brennan’s declaration of love to Dr. Hodgins – she’s experienced an incredible amount of emotional growth from just a year ago. I think that while she’s dusting off ancient bones in Indonesia, she’s going to come to a realization that she needs and misses these connections that she wants to sever because they slow down her processes. Well, I hope so, anyway!
They are all definitely going to be apart for the year. The new season will start with Bones & Boothe meeting at the coffee cart. According to one of the co-creators everyone will be back. I don’t know if that includes Daisy or not. 🙂
I think the finale was good. It’s going to interesting when the season starts a year later in the fall. I know that there will be some changes in personalities, etc. But I can’t even begin to guess.
haha…funny how nobody want Daisy with Sweets! For some reason, she has grown on me and I find her funny. The whole gag reflex control was priceless.
Trishpip: I was surprised at the Hodgins love outburst too, but glad she spoke it…now if she could just do that to Booth.
Was anyone else bummed that they didn’t kiss goodbye???
