Well here we are. The dramatic finale of Brothers and Sisters – and the death we’ve been waiting for: Peace out Rob Lowe. Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out. Yes, I’m a tad bitter. Lowe has said he felt the character ran its course. Seriously? Robert has so many sides to him. We barely touched on him being a father and if he only cares about being a “political actor,” well then he should just leave acting and move on over to the White House. And also, if you’re gonna leave your show, try to keep it secret and don’t ask how to be killed off. It angers your fans. Like this one.

But putting my anger against Rob Lowe aside, I have been looking forward to this finale for a while. Would we find out the real truth behind Narrow Lake? Would Justin and Rebecca find happiness or would they finally separate? What kind of story lines would the writers leave us with for the one-year time jump? And when I couldn’t think it could get any better, it was leaked out hours before I sat down to watch the episode that Rob Lowe wasn’t the only person coming back. Cliffhanger? You bet! Buckle in (get it? Road..buckle?) … it’s gonna be a wild one!

Robert is putting tapes in an envelope and takes his heart medication. He’s deep in thought when the phone rings and Kitty comes out with Evan. Nora is on the phone and Kitty wants to know what is wrong because it’s so early. Nora asks Kitty to stop by Sarah’s because she still in a slump. Robert isn’t packed for their campaign trip and he tells Kitty he can’t come. Nora hears and suggests she come along. Kitty doesn’t want her to but you know Nora, she’s gonna push her way in. Kitty reminds Robert to go to the Ojai house the next night for Saul and Scotty’s menu tasting for their restaurant. Justin, meanwhile, visits Sarah, who is sulking in her unemployment woes, eating cold pizza on the couch. Luc says he isn’t leaving her alone and begs her to not eat more pizza and will make her real food. He tells her at least she still has Narrow Lake, but Sarah thinks it’s worthless. Justin tells Sarah he’s excited about going to Haiti and plans on talking to Rebecca about what they’re going to do since she hasn’t taken the job yet. At the Ojai house, Scotty and Saul are cooking and talking about the baby and are all excited about the future when grouchy morning Kevin comes in. Kitty calls Kevin to tell him about Nora getting on her campaign bus with her and as she’s complaining, Nora walks up with Sarah in tow. Sarah just wants to watch TV. Saul has discovered Facebook and find out an old friend has been living with AIDS. Saul’s face turns ghostly white and the conversation turns to being tested for AIDS. Scotty asks Saul if he’s ever been tested and he says no, and why? He hasn’t had sex “since the Hindenburg exploded.” Oy, I don’t have a good feeling. Robert meets with Joe about Stanton and how he doesn’t want to do the job anymore because Kitty will pay the price. Joe tells Robert to give him the tapes and when Robert says no, Joe tells him to hide them.

Nora is bugging Kitty on the campaign bus about what she’s been talking and not talking about on her last few stops. Sarah is whining and complaining about her life and Nora tries to make her feel better by taking some of the weight of the Ojai failure. At the Ojai house, Kevin tries to put the moves on Scotty but all he can think about is Saul. Saul comes in after overhearing them talking and Scotty suggests the three of them go get tested. Saul says he’ll get tested in a month when he gets tested for his cholesterol. Justin is called by Robert to come over. He is all cryptic and gives him a safe deposit box key for a box in only their names and only they know about it. Robert says he can trust him, he’s a soldier. Robert asks him to do it for him and to not tell anyone – even Kitty. When he knows what he is going to do, he’ll tell him. Justin also takes a glance at Robert’s medications. At their hotel, Nora and Sarah are causing a ruckus while Kitty is trying to do work. Kitty discovers a website that slams her and Nora takes deep offense to what’s on the site. It’s obviously the work of Stanton given the information coming off of it.

In the morning, Sarah wakes up with her facial mask still on and Nora has potato chips in her hair after falling asleep on the floor. Kitty gets a phone call and immediately pulls up a website. Winds up when Nora was drunk on wine she signed on to the site and responded back to the people talking about Kitty. The person/people running the site know too much about Kitty. Justin and Rebecca are in the car and Justin is on the phone with his professor asking about Robert’s medication finding out what the medication is used for (to treat a heart arrhythmia). Rebecca tells Justin she thinks he should go to Haiti and that she has taken the job. This is her way of compromising. Uh, not so much there, Rebecca. Justin says he’s not going. Saul goes to get an HIV test and explains he hasn’t done anything recently to put himself in harms way but years before he had. He asks the woman if someone could go decades without having symptoms and she says yes. Winds up the Facebook friend was a lover of Saul’s. Times are different now though and with medication people live long healthy lives. Saul decides to take the test and could know the next day if he wants.

It’s dinner time and Saul is on edge. He tells Scotty he didn’t sleep well and Scotty apologizes for putting pressure on him to take the test. Rebecca comes in asking if she can help and Saul yells at her to stay out of the kitchen. Robert and Justin are talking and Justin is asking weird questions about his medicine. Kitty takes Robert outside to talk to him about the website. She tells him the group doesn’t exist and she’s upset they brought up her cancer. Kevin is in the kitchen with Saul and he finally tells Kevin and Scotty what’s inside his head. His world is so different…when he was their age, he could have been arrested for going to a gay bar while they’re married (“domestic partners”) and are having a child. When he was younger, bad news meant people would die. He goes outside for a walk. When Nora sees Saul walk outside she wants to go after him and Sarah says to leave him alone when her phone rings. It’s Holly telling her that there is drilling going on again at Narrow Lake. Nora is paying for it and Sarah tells her to stop trying to solve everyone’s problems. Justin goes to Robert and asks him for more information about the box and the situation and tells him he knows what medication he is taking. Robert feels betrayed and says the safe deposit box has nothing to do with the medication and asks for the key back. He says he chose the wrong person but he doesn’t have time to get the key as Kevin interrupts them. Kevin apologizes to Saul who says it’s okay, but we all know it’s not. The food is finally ready to be tested out! When they go to sit down, Robert grabs his chest and tells them to call 911. Is it time???

Robert is okay and is watching Kitty sleep at the hospital. Guess it’s not his time yet. He tells Kitty he didn’t tell her about his heart because he didn’t want her to choose between him and the campaign. They have a sweet moment about loving each other and Robert admits to his secret job and what the website is all about. At the Ojai house, Saul comes back from a walk and runs into Nora on the porch. Seems the boys have big mouths (something new?) and apologizes for not being there for him. Saul opens up to Nora about his life, living in shame and living a secret life. She wonders if he ever thought what it would cost him – with his heart, not physically. She convinces him to call for the results then and there. He does and he tells Nora he’s fine. Do you believe him? Because I don’t. Sarah runs out and tells them Holly called and they have to go to Narrow Lake. HOLY MOLY!!! NARROW LAKE IS…..A LAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! They are in the water business!! It’s filled with the most water the drillers have ever seen. Since California is in a deep drought, they will be making tons of money. Saul, Sarah, Nora and Holly run in the water, jumping for joy. Finally! Guess Nora won’t get her dream house built on Narrow Lake.

Everyone is leaving the Ojai house and saying their goodbyes. Justin and Robert make up and Robert tells him that Kitty knows everything. Scotty hands out leftovers to everyone and Sarah tells Nora she had fun on the bus trip. Guess that’s her way of saying thank you? Justin tries to talk to Rebecca about the Haiti thing and he says he wants what Robert and Kitty have. Rebecca says the one year apart is nothing compared to a lifetime together. She’s looking at the big picture. How do they get things resolved so quickly without really getting things resolved? Kitty and Robert are talking on the ride home and she tells him to release the tapes. Stanton pissed her off by talking about the wig. Rebecca calls Holly and Holly and Nora tell Rebecca they want to throw them their big Hawaiian wedding. Justin and Rebecca decide no because 1) they’re already married and 2) something bad always happens when they try to have the their wedding but the phone goes dead. Seconds later, they come upon a horrendous car crash. They get out of the car and everyone else has been involved – Kevin is crawling out of the car (and pulls glass out of his hand), Scotty is on the ground but is okay, Nora is walking with Sarah looking for each other and Nora finds Rebecca to tell her they can’t get Holly out of the car. Kevin finds Saul and goes to help him but Saul tells him not to touch him – he CAN’T touch him. HOLY MOLY. (I don’t think I need to explain that one…) Nora hears, too. Justin finds Kitty and Robert’s car and Kitty tells Justin that Robert is hurt really bad when Rebecca yells for him that Holly is in bad shape. Robert tells him he’ll wait for the ambulance and to go. Holly moans in pain and Justin wraps her in his jacket. Robert gives an “I’m dying” speech to Kitty about being scared when Evan came home from the hospital. In the middle of the speech, eyes wide open, he dies. Peace out Robert. The cameras pull back with an overview of the accident as Nora calls out for Kitty.

THE. END. … and see ya next year.

I don’t even know where to begin (as usual). Let’s get the easy one out of the way: Robert’s dead. Finally. If you want to see more of Rob Lowe, head over to NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Okay, done. Now … Narrow Lake is a lake! But now with Holly on the brink of death, what does that mean for the future of it? If you haven’t read, one more person won’t be returning when the show comes back in the fall and has done the one year jump. Gilles Marini just signed his contract, so we know he’ll be around. Balthazar Getty (Tommy), although not in the finale, is in talks to return, so maybe it’s Tommy, who knows.

So … Will Justin go to Haiti? Will Kitty win her election? Will Saul tell everyone the truth and take medication or keep yet more secrets? So many questions! Hopefully with that time jump, things will be answered. And oh! With the jump, we also won’t have to worry about Michelle and the baby drama. Scotty and Kevin will have their baby without Roxy Olin having to come back at all. AHH.

So much information. Such little space. What did you think about everything? Have any theories? Leave your two cents below!

Funny line of the night:
“I never knew that my nephew was such a grump in the morning.” – Saul
“I never knew my uncle wore a moo-moo, so we’re even.” – Kevin

Norah & Kevin were both there when Sal freaked, so I don’t think it’ll be a secret. I hope they show Sal living with HIV/AIDS and don’t use it as a death sentence.

Rumor has the show only doing 16-18 episodes next year, so I wonder if it’ll be the final season.

Well, considering that both Kevin and Nora know how much of a secret Saul has wanted this to be, and how long he’s lived with his secrets, they may respect his wishes and not say anything. Despite being Walkers, it is a HUGE secret. I don’t think they’ll use it as a death sentence…not for Saul. He’s lived with it so long and has come so far with his life. I think it is a good chance for him to be closer with Scotty and Kevin … JMO though.

I don’t think it’s their final season by far. Budget cuts are causing some weirdness but I think they are far from over. They just need to stop going so far with their storylines. Like that whole car accident thing and the big huge campaign bus? Meh.

I thought the campaign bus was a bit over the top. Necessary? Not so much.

I’m wondering if they’re going to kill off Holly? I hope not – I actually like her character and now with the potential of Narrow Lake…

I had no idea about the one year jump – isn’t that like stealing Desperate Houswives’ idea?
