Well, the time has come. It’s the last leg. The final three will sprint to the finish for the $1 million and the honor of being the winners of The Amazing Race 16. Since Michael/Louie were eliminated last week, I picked the Cowboys to win (Oh my gravy!).
As usual, we’ll know by the 20-30 minute mark which team won’t be even going for the win (there’s always that one team that sucks in the final 3) and I am hoping it’s Caite/Brent. Let’s see, shall we? (Also, I renamed the teams just for finale … hope you enjoy them!)
The Top 3 Things I Learned From The Amazing Race 16 FINALE
3. Caite/Brent (Team “I want to punch you in the face”): If it was at all possible, this team went from first to last and got even more annoying as the minutes went on. While they thought they were being smart by asking for the seats closest to the front of the plane, they weren’t smart enough to stay calm when they had a bad cabbie. Or how about getting g a new cabbie?? Caite also showed that not only was she still an idiot, but that she was also a racist and verbally abusive. I can’t even count how many times she told Brent she wanted to “punch him in the face” while they had their bad cab experience. Brent stayed calm and finally got them where they needed to go. By the end of the detour, it was obvious they were completely out of the running, needing to return to retrieve their bag of money and passports. (This is also the last time we saw them until they got to the end.) But the best part of the entire Caite/Brent leg was when they hit the super-sized mat at the end and Phil asked Caite how she felt about being the only woman in the final three. She said she felt great and that she had proved to everyone that she wasn’t stupid and traveled the whole world and made it third. Phil brought up the sour subject of Carol/Brandy (who were showing obvious disgust for her) and when Caite tried to apologize, Brandy would have none of it and tried to prove to her that U-Turning them was a mistake. She was THIRD in comparison to the boys up there. HELLO! Carol/Brandy clearly win the argument (I’d love to see the entire thing) and Caite still thinks she’s won the world’s love back. No. You fail.
2. Jet/Cord (Team “Oh my gravy!”): Their day started off feeling that Dan/Jordan were cheating by using the “backpack system” instead of the “laying in line at the airport” system. It really didn’t matter either way, as you will see when I cover Dan/Jordan’s race for the win. They decided to start playing dirty for the first time ever. While their first thought was to pick up Jordan by his backpack and ankles and throw him around, they decided to just take the gloves off and fight dirty. And to fight dirty, that meant yelling out directions when Dan/Jordan were in the middle of the task. The detour posed problems for them, as the virtual world would physically bring the two teams to a standstill. They also didn’t understand why Dan/Jordan were spinning and spent so much time figuring out the clue that Caite/Brent caught up with them. Good thing for them they actually remember to bring their items with them and get to the finish line second. They’re happy to have traveled the world together and have their integrity in tact. I agree. They ran the race with class and it didn’t matter what seats they had on that plane, they couldn’t have won the last leg. And now, I’ll explain why …
1. Dan/Jordan (Team “I’ve watched all 15 seasons and know to take notes”): I never would have pegged Dan/Jordan to win this race … until this leg. Sure, they cut in front of Jet/Cord at the airport, but that didn’t matter. Why? They sweet-talked their way into first class once on the plane – a completely legal move. So no matter where they were sitting, no matter who they cut in front of in line (or didn’t cut in front of, depending on how you view it), they were the closest to the front. This got them off the plane first. They also had the only cabbie who knew where the road block location was. All of their cabbie bad luck came back around in good form during this leg with a GREAT cabbie. Dan also did great at the detour but it was Jordan’s Amazing Race-addictiveness that truly got them this win. It was his dream to run – and win – the race. He’s watched every season and knew there generally is a memory task on the last leg. Smart man! He took notes and they finished the memory task in what I can only is assume is a new TAR record. Dan’s love for sports got them to Candlestick Park (nice teamwork) and they knew they won. It was a great moment. I remember when Dan needed a hug from his brother to keep going on the noodle task and there they were, first to the mat.
So, did your favorite team win? Did you think Dan/Jordan “cheated?” Did it even matter considering they moved to first class? What about Caite? Did she really “prove” anything? Was Brandy right in not accepting her apology? Leave your two cents below!
And we’ll see you next season!

I wouldn’t have even attempted to apologize, which makes Caite an even bigger idiot! (Who knew that was possible?!) I truly wanted the Cowboys to win. I thought the whole back pack thing was pathetic on Dan & Jordan’s part, but oh well.
I think she was only apologizing because Phil said “do you have anything to say to them?” And she was also mad to be in third and it had probably been pointed out to her that she could’ve finished higher had she kept Carol/Brandy. Oh deleted scenes, how much I want to see thee….
I really wish the show didn’t venture there with Caite and Brandy on the finish mat. It benefited no one, not Caite, not Carol and Brandy, not Phil, not the show. It was a weirdly atypical moment for the show.
It killed me that none of them seemed to “OHMYGODTHISISSOCOOL!” about being at Lucasfilm and ILM. Jordan hadn’t even seen any of the movies.
In the end, I don’t think it was a great season. It seemed like there weren’t a lot of good teams.
I agree with both statements.
The fight was unnecessary. But since TAR doesn’t to reunion specials like Survivor it’s the only time to resolve things like that for the people who don’t watch their Internet specials.
And also agree about the teams not caring about how flippin’ cool the detour was!! I’m not a HUGE Star Wars-type fan, but that task was just downright cool. From the Yoda fountain, to the Storm Troopers, just being on those grounds. And the task itself was really fun and challenging. That would make for a fun theme park attraction. 🙂
SO VERY disappointed. I did not like the brothers from the beginning, and that was solidified with the cheap moves they did this episode. BUT, it IS a game…
And on that note, YES, Caite is immature and petty, but that is NOTHING compared to Brandy and Carol. The way they acted when they got eliminated was pathetic, and the way Brandy acted at the finish line was plain embarrassing. Now I don’t condone Team Princess’ actions (in fact, I quite dislike them – see note on Cowboys below), but come on! It’s a GAME, Brandy, and you got played. Get over it!
To sum up – I like what Team Cowboy said at the end about what a great opportunity the race was and that they made it through with their integrity intact & can hold their heads high (even if they didn’t win). Can the brothers say the same?
Off soapbox now.
The brothers didn’t bother me as much as other teams. I can’t recall things they did that were *that* bad. They even gave me some hope that Louie/Michael would be in the final three when they couldn’t figure out the first clue in China and waited for them. I still say, no matter where their seats were on that plane, Jordan knew how to play the last leg and would’ve gotten the closest seats. No matter how they got there, the last leg belonged to Jordan. Not even Dan. Jordan knew how to win the leg. First off the plane, memory task, run run run.
There have been teams in the past that have had the backpack vs. body argument. I’m not sure how I feel about it and there are no rules about it. But it makes for good television so I doubt TAR will make an official ruling on it anytime soon. 🙂
As for Caite/Brandy, I think there’s way more to the argument than we see and I read an interview today with Carol/Brandy that explained a whole lot more from the season that we didn’t get to see. I wish they didn’t edit so much for pure storyline. But that makes for good TV. I think Brandy’s anger comes from the fact that Caite, whom she had become friends with (I read that in the interview today), got brainwashed by the men and didn’t have a mind of her own but kept claiming it was her idea because Brandy/Carol were a threat. In no way were they a threat (how many times did they barely finish??) … the men just wanted Caite/Brent there to guarantee a win. And it worked.
The Cowboys will definitely go down as possibly the classiest team to run the race.
You can stay on your soapbox. 🙂 I like it when we’re both on our soapboxes!
