Remember Peter sprinting out of the apartment last week, triggering the alarm in desperation to keep Alicia from a dinner with Will?
We pick up from the perspective of their kids, Zach and Grace, who try everything to keep their father from going back to prison.
Zach smashes the alarm and Grace tells the police on the phone that Peter is in the shower. Meanwhile, Alicia stops Peter and rushes him home (mission accomplished Peter!). And the family lawyer (the wonderful Carrie Preston of True Blood) makes the police think it’s their fault.
And Alicia misses her dinner with Will. She tries to apologize, but you can see him shutting down on the possibility of a relationship between them. Just as Diane is forcing Will to make a decision between Cary and Alicia. Talk about bad timing.
To make the kids’ plan work, they had to get their neighbor Amal, who came up when he heard the alarm, to collaborate their story that Peter had never left and the alarm was triggered by a skateboarding accident. He does.
The next day, Alicia sees the same police enter Amal’s apartment, trying to force him to admit he’s part of an ID theft ring. Feeling guilty, Alicia tries to intervene, but ends up getting the mom deported because she’s not a legal citizen, even though Amal and his sister are. Ouch! Lots more guilt.
Turns out, the police will let the mom go if Amal will get info off his boss’ computer — a very dangerous endeavor. He does it, but someone tips the bosses off and the police really want to get the top guy. So they renege on letting the mom go.
Then Kalinda, who has reluctantly gotten involved, once again saves the day by discovering the sister gave the bosses the tip to leave. The sister goes to jail, but the mom comes home. (Seriously, you have to wonder if Alicia is still the main character in the show anymore.)
Meanwhile, Will gets involved in a mock trial for law students who are prosecuting Hansel and Gretel. The defense lawyer sets him up to make him recluse himself from the case, but then she invites him to dinner — and after putting up a fight, he accepts. Hmmm… looks like Will isn’t going to be free should Alicia want to start something.
Peter and Alicia finally have a heart to heart about his dirty dealings and he comes clean about a lot. I’m still not convinced he will tell her everything, but it seems a good first step.
Which makes his stepping out of the apartment a good move after all.
Do you think Peter is serious about reforming? Will Alicia beat Cary for the job? Does Kalinda kick butt or what? Give us your TwoCents…
