First two minutes a bomb goes off. Do I have your attention?

We also have a contract killer turned witness, turned fish store proprietor in love and shunned, a momentary return of Raph, and another family drama free episode.

Here we go.

The aforementioned bomb goes off and suddenly we’re three months in the past. Former contract killer, Dominic, has turned on his family after being asked to kill a woman and her children. He testifies and is of course swept into WitSec. Dom seems to want legitimate change in his life and confesses a life long dream of working with fish. Per usual Mary is standoffish when it comes to protecting a criminal, but they get him set up nevertheless.

Another car scene with Mary and Marshall, which is rapidly becoming a staple of each episode. Raph is coming by the house to pick up the last of his things. Without a word said, Mary declines any back up from Marshall but thanks him for the telekinetic offer. They arrive at the fish store where a frazzled Dom greets them.

Dom is in love with Naomi, who runs a nearby store of her own. As a man accustomed to paying for female interaction, Dom is at a complete loss of how to handle this. Mary advises him to just stay calm, it’ll work out and if it doesn’t, well that’s life.

“You don’t pay for sex and you don’t kill people who say no to dinner.” WitSec has really strict rules! But Dom agrees to behave accordingly. He is desperate to keep Mary around but she has her own angst ridden, guilt fest to get to.

As they move Raph’s things out of the house they talk about Brandi. Who hasn’t been seen or heard from since she left for Jersey. My theory is that she has been abducted by Snookie. He offers his help when she turns up again and once more we are reminded that he is a good guy. Their break up continues to be ridiculously tame and mature. He leaves and Mary sits in her car (which of course doubles a metaphor throughout the show) and cries.

The WitSec office that night, Mary is trying to get a hold of Brandi again with no results. Marshall has taken up origami classes… the sexy art of paper folding, not cutting. Content to just hang around the office, Mary’s plan is disrupted by a panicked call from Dom. He asked Naomi out and she said yes, he doesn’t know what to do beyond that.

Mary becomes his dating guru. Going with him to the restaurant and waiting with him until his special lady arrives. We get a closer glimpse at Dom; feel a little sympathy for him. Naomi arrives; Mary is ready to take off when Raph shows up at the same place! On a date! With a woman not packing heat! Mary stays and spends most of the meal distractedly trying to spy on her former fellah.

Later that night Raph shows up at Mary’s house after she texted him. Despite being 2 am, he comes over. He saw her at the restaurant and they awkwardly tip toe around the topic before they end up in the bedroom. As always Mary has to sneak away in the morning. She’s almost out of the room when her phone buzzes, it’s Dom, and he wants to marry Naomi.

The whole thing feels pretty weird; Mary and Marshall go to Naomi’s house to see if anything seemed off to her. Yet another car scene in which Marshall shows how well he knows Mary. He knows that something has happened and that she should just take the opportunity to tell him now. This whole conversation is put on hold when they see Naomi leaving the house, kissing a man who isn’t Dom. She has decided to get back together with her ex, letting Mary know that Dom is up for grabs. I enjoy these scenes that have Marshall just laughing in the background. This warrants an NCIS style head slap for him.

The pair break the news to Dom, who of course takes it well… as well as a former contract killer who has never dealt with rejection can take this news. He yells at them to get out, breaks a fish tank, very Soprano’s temper tantrum-esq. M&M return to WitSec and try to talk Stan into posting security for Naomi. Of course it’s not allowed because of the new budget busters who keep showing up. Of course our dynamic duo take things into their own hands.

Dom is busy making a bomb and hooking up to the alarm pad at Naomi’s store. Mary and Marshall arrive at her house only to find that she has already taken off to deal with a malfunctioning alarm system. Mary takes off running, getting there just in the knick of time. Shaken, but alive.

On further research Mary and Marshall track down Dom’s cousin Leonard, who also ended up in WitSec. Turns out their grandma put them in contact. It’s always the grandma. The budget underling gets put in her place by Stan, reminding us all why we love him. They catch Dom at the aquarium, waiting for his cousin to arrive with new fake ideas. He’s arrested and Mary returns home to her beta fish.

Raph arrives again, they begin to make out, but it doesn’t last for long. They both realize that this will just lead them down the same road and that it won’t end well. He understands and leaves. Mary calls Marshall, she hungry and wants to go for sushi. Oh sweet irony. All in all a good episode. It was just a nice little formulaic set up. Not earth shattering, but fun to watch. Not an insane amount of action, but we are getting a lot from the characters.

So readers, your two cents? Brandi kidnapped by Snookie or other Jersey Shore people? Enjoying the Mary/Marshall friendship that’s just so sweet? Miss Raph? Happy to see him back on, even though it was brief? Lets hear you!

I know! I’m so glad that they’re having more moments even though they probably won’t be a couple for a while still. I just really like Mary being single, she and Raph were all wrong for each other.

so true. personally i just love marshall rambling about ramdom facts god knows where he picked up. some of the best moments of this show.

well, they probably won’t really have anything until the last season, which hopefully won’t be for a while yet. really want to see marshall with a girl tho. it’ll be fun to watch mary’s reaction.
