Ok, so let me just say , that I felt a few awkward moments throughout this episode that I didn’t like. Now I understand that our favorite couple is really not a couple, but I kind of think the relationships were a little forced.

This is just my opinion, mind you and maybe you didn’t feel that way at all and you can tell me in the end, OK?

So it is shark week as we investigate a killing that is found in the remains of a shark and the local aquarium. We meet Dr. Catherine Bryar who gives the foot found in the shark to Booth and Brennen to help determine what happened. Deputy Director Andrew Hacker is also on the scene. Let’s face it, he will always be Oswald (Drew Carey’s sidekick) so if you don’t mind, I will be just calling him Oswald. Catherine is definitely giving Booth the eye and he is very much enjoying it and giving it right back. Oswald and Bones notice this also. Booth gets a little bumbling as he attempts to leave. Does he feel odd that someone is paying extra attention to him or because it is in front of Bones and he is a bit embarrassed?

When Booth gets back to his office, Catherine asks him out. I am glad to see she took the initiative because we all know how long it takes Booth to take the initiative! He states he is not allowed to date suspects (we all know she is not a suspect, but ok, whatever). Again, he gets a bit bumbling in the office and I just wish he played it cool like our Booth really is.

Now, I have to say that I just loved the bit where Hodgins looks like Richard Dreyfess from “Jaws” and says “Gonna need a bigger boat”. Excellent! This was great moment #1.

Great moment #2 came when Angela, Bones and Hodgins are looking at the live feed of the aquarium (on a huge screen) and Angela and Hodgins think it is beautiful and a little scary, which they like. A nice moment and look is given to each other as Bones observes.

Another odd moment to me is when Booth and Bones are having coffee and they each say they have dates. It was a little forced for me. Bones is reading too much into what Oswald says, and thinks going to the play is code for sex. Oh Brennen!
Angela tells Bones that Oswald is pretty transparent and sophisticated in his job like Bones. There are no hidden meanings in what he says. Angela also states that she knows who Bones should really be with, but she has her own feeling to deal with. We just need to get Angela and Jack back together! It’s coming, be patient!

Hodgins makes a funny crack to Clark that since Wendell is gone; Angela will be looking for a replacement intern. Bravo to Clark for breaking his cardinal rule and setting Mr. Hodgins straight and telling him “not to channel his own frustrations into snide illusions”. This is a huge wake up call for Jack. He thanks Mr. Edison.

Now comes the part where Booth wants to go after a Russian mobster but Oswald warns him on questioning the guy. It’s like Oswald is afraid to go after him. C’mon, you are Deputy Director and Booth is showing more balls than you! Needless to say Booth gets his guy in the end.

In the end Booth and Bones talk about going out on their prospective dates. Bones says Catherine is as pretty as her if she was the standard. Booth says she is the standard. She also states Andrew is not as handsome as Booth…using him as the standard. I agree, whole heartily! But she also states that Catherine is not as smart as she is, in which Booth states Andrew is a doofus! Lol

When Bones meets Oswald there is this awkward kiss on the cheek and the talk is very weird. I know, they are very much alike , but still…
Booth is talking to Catherine at the aquarium and she makes him laugh and tells him he could use some company. He asks her out to dinner. I like her and him together, they go well together, that is.. if we need to keep him apart from Bones.

Last awkward moment: B&B get together and talk about their dates…really? This is just a weird moment for me and feels this is too hard for Booth to go through.

How did you feel about all that happened? Please give me your feedback!

I was definitely loving Hodgins in this episode. His “Richard Dreyfuss” moment was swoon-worthy.. and he didn’t really look that much like Dreyfuss. He looked lovely throughout the episode. Whatever they’re doing different with his hair or the length of his beard fuzz.. keep doing it! I think Angela and Hodgins are getting back together soon, but it’s wise not to rush into it. She just broke up with Wendell last week.

Great moment aside from that – Booth saying, “Bones.. you are the standard.” Be still my heart! I think she’s aware of her feelings for him but she’s afraid that if things didn’t work out for them as a couple, she will have destroyed the best relationship of her life – that of the family she and Booth have become with their team. She wants him to fall in love with someone else because then they can stay together and continue in the safe and familiar way, even if it hurts her to see him with someone else.
The conversation over beers at the end was awkward feeling for me too, but I think the writers wanted to show that she is trying to set him free by letting him see that she’s okay with him dating, meeting a good woman, falling in love, being happy.
Temperance doesn’t have any illusions of falling in love or being happily ever after with Oswald – she plans to continue her pattern of relationships, occasional sex or interesting conversation, the rare guy who is good for both, but not getting her heart involved. It’s safer that way. I don’t know what they’ll do to snap her out of the hyper-rational safety zone, but I hope it’s coming soon.

I didn’t hate it that another woman took the initiative to ask Booth out and he responded like a man.

Until the 100th episode, I despaired for him. although I loved that he told Brennan what he wanted even though she rejected him then.

But I liked it that we had that moment at the end where they talked about their dates because they were together and their respective dates were not.

I need that ending or I just can’t handle the UST.
