When a show like Fringe opens with characters we’ve never seen before, you may as well call them Red Uniforms, cause they are SO gonna die or be the cause of a horrible death. A man named Neil is talking with a pretty lawyer whom he went to school with many years ago. He’s sick and looking to reconnect with all his old classmates. Lawyer Lady can’t seem to remember any of their old school chums, let alone him. But there was this one guy she remembered… Lloyd. Neil touches her on the hand, thanking her for her help. Thirty minutes later she is dead (and covered in cancerous growths, no less). Ah, Fringe.

Meanwhile, Olivia can’t sleep. She has, against her better judgment, promised Walter to not tell Peter the truth; that he is Other Peter. Crippled by insomnia, she pays a visit to Bowling Alley Guy Sam. It’s been a while since she’s visited the sage, but now seems as good a time as any for some cryptic answers. He thinks that maybe, just maybe, she made the wrong decision in “keeping the secret.” Olivia tells Walter she needs to tell Peter the truth. He, of course, freaks out. He “can’t lose Peter again.” She says she’ll give Walter some time to prepare.

Back to the Monster of the Week, a bunch more cases are discovered with the same M.O.: perfectly healthy people get cancer almost instantaneously and die. but what do they all have in common? Oh, just the school they went to in Jacksonville, Florida twenty years ago. That’s right… the same school the Walter and William Bell conducted their little experiments. The only people this guy can kill are the people who have that wacky triptophan (I think) in their system. In order to prevent more deaths, Fringe Division needs to locate the surviving students. Maybe they should ask Massive Dynamic again for a list…

Nina, in all her Nina glory, is no help whatsoever. But where she DOES help is with the Peter situation. She talks Olivia out of telling Peter because, well, some truths are better left unknown for the sake of those involved. Besides, if Peter finds out, their little nuclear family will go boom. Olivia tells Walter, but in a surprise move, Walter decides that he needs to repent for his sins and tell Peter himself.

Meanwhile, the Fringe version of Cancer Man shows up on Olivia’s doorstep and, of course, tries to kill her. Well, actually, he just tries to touch her. After a very precarious fight (it’s hard to punch someone you don’t want to some in contact with), Olivia cracks him with a candlestick… and we learn the truth. When he contracted cancer several years ago, someone came to him and tried to teach him how to “harness” his power. For those of you familiar with Fringe mythology, that person tried to “activate” him. But the whole thing backfired. His touch transferred his cancer to the victim and he would get better, but only for a short time. He is booked and put in a medically-induced coma. But how many other sleeper agents are out there with undocumented abilities? And who tried to activate cancer Man?…

This show is one wild ride! I love it. I wonder what will happen once Peter knows and my main question is …what about the parents on the other side? What if peter wants to see them? missed the Observer, but is on dvr and will watch again.

I didn’t see The Observer, either… you have to let us all know where he was! I’m guessing somewhere in traffic when the first victim died.

There are two things I know for sure regarding what happens when Peter discovers the truth:

      1. It is SO ugly that Walter begins to self-medicate with LSD and marijuana to “get away.” That leads into some pretty funky trips within Walters mind, and results in Fringe: The Musical. You read that right!

      2. Walternate is VERY angry. John Noble referred to this in the last interview I did with him… that at some point this season (which is coming to a close quickly), we’ll get to see an extremely pissed Other Dad. But I don’t know if that means he comes over here, or if Peter goes over there.

      Man! I love this show!
